I thank you all so far, your answers have all been respectful. Who lives by other religions/philosophical codes not yet listed?

The belief that I live by is called Christianity and the Holy Book is called the Holy Bible, the principles that I live by are called the Ten Commandments, thou shall not murder, lie, steal, commit adultery, no other gods, not use the Lords name in Vain, not covent, keep the Sabbath holy, honor your mother and father and no graven images, Basically this will sum it up, if you love your neighbor as you love yourself, you will wish no ill harm to come to them, you will help them in time of need, you will laugh with them you will cry with them and you will be there just to listen if they need to talk. You will tell them when they are wrong and you will let them know when they are on the right track.

I'm an atheist. I have no religion. Recent studies have shown that atheists are the more tolerant than other religions and the least tolerated.

As for principles, I adhere to Humanism. They don't have any holy book, but they have a Humanist Manifesto that is updated periodically. It tends to generally match my own set of moral rules. Humanism focuses on what is good for humanity as a whole and opens up discussion on what that might be. In general, it promotes tolerance and education.

I think that relying on old doctrine is stagnating. Morality should be something that is alive and evolving. How can we become better if we just stay the same?

I am a Chaote, I live by the basic principle that using your will in certain states you can bend reality to your favour or others disfavour.

No specific holy book, but I do have three different copies of the bible, the principia discordia, the book of laws all within reaching distance, and various other book on assorted religions around the bookshelves.

If I have a holy book, it is the Encyclopaedia Britannica. If my religion has a name, it's humanism. I live by the basic principle that humankind, and the physical world we see around us, is paramount, and all actions must be made in consideration of the betterment of humanity. I believe that we must help each other as much as possible, and I believe that we must do this not because there may be an adjudicator watching over us but because it's the right way to behave.

i don't call myself part of any religion, for me all religions is just all about beliefs-chosen way of thinking. i don't easily believe in others sayings. i search in truths, i'm into searching for truth-the only way to really understand everything. and i don't have a holy book all i have is myself-my body and mind. everything is all about being alive and it is one of the true facts. while i get some basis from other beliefs like "everyone is created equal". for me the whole universe is alive like us. life is just a balance of positive energy and negative energy. if an entity is alive it is balance and always keep on trying to maintain life, doesnt need to have a brain or heart. if everything is equal. and i can understand my system, why do i think such a way and react in such a way and behaves in such a way. i can understand everyone. i can understand life. i'll be in control. possibility to live forever

i have no religion but faith in me ,holly bible is the accepted both old & new testament including the most (the last revealed secrets to watch for by the chrise himselfe)written by the apostle john .our basic ruls and principle are this:chrise is GOD ,and that he came to the earth by himselve with the help of his servant mary ,and that he had been crucified for our sake ,rose from the dead and in human flesh he went back to his thrown in heaven but soon he is coming back again but for judgment of the living & the dead souls .loving my enemy makes me feel victorious it helps me define how much GOD loves me even as a great sinner and how many times he forgives my evile deeds.and you have your own free will to choose jesus .

assalam alaikum wa rahmatullahi wa barakaatahu
(may the peace and blessings of Allah be upon u),

i thank u for giving me this oppurtunity to pour out my heart about my religion and the faith i beleive in.

well im a muslim. islam means 'submission and obedience to the one god.' submitting urself to Allah. Allah when translated from arabic to english means SUPREME BEING. it is not a name of any mortal or mythological character. a person who accepts islam as a way of life is known as muslim.
surah 112 quran
"say He is Allah, the One. Allah is Eternal and Absolute. none is born of Him nor is He born. and there is none like Him"

many people think that islam is a very new religion but they are wrong. infact islam is a religion that began with Adam (pbuh). it was remodelled every now and then for people of every era.
quran surah 5:3
'this day i have perfected my religion for u, completed my favors upon u and have chosen islam as a way of ur life.'

every muslim should beleive in this (Imaan - e - mufassil) : "i beleive in Allah, in His angels, in His books, in His messengers, in Last Day (Day of Judgement) and in the fact that everything good or bad is due to Allah, the Almighty, and in Life after death"

that means we beleive in all prophets from adam to abraham to moses to jesus to muhammed (pbut). we beleive in all the 4 books : torah, zabur, bible, quran.

people say that muslims follow a false prophet muhammed(pbuh). if they say that then why is it that the quran mentions moses more than anyone else in quran, followed by adam and eve, abraham, mary, noah, jesus with same respect as muhammed(pbuh) and all the 1,24,000 prophets.

islam is a perfect way of life with the 5 pillars:
tawheed - there is no God but one God
salah - prayer 5 times/ day at given times not as u wish
sawm - fasting for month of ramadhan from dawn to dusk
zakat - gving charity 1/4th of ur income/ property/ other wealth each atleast once a year
hajj - sacred pilgrimage to makkah once in a lifetime for those who can

many people think that muslims consider muhammed (pbuh)as God. it is wrong .
quran 3:144 'muhammed is but a messenger and messengers have passed away before him. will it be that when he dies or is slain you ill turn ur back on ur heels? He wh turns himself from Allah does no harm to Allah and Allah will reward the thankful'

surely he who worshipped MUHAMMED(PBUH) should know that muhammed (pbuh) is dead, but he who worshiped Allah sjould know that Allah will never die.

well i wont try to impose anything about my religion - islam, but there is something i would like to say. islam is not what many people misinterpret it to be. and sister i feel that the quran will give u every aspect of how a person should be. quran is nothing but a book that guides u.

quran gives the critereon to judge between right and wrong. and if u want to know about islam then u can find all the answers in this book. no im not trying to impose anythin or trying to convert u.

just read it as u read ur bible or any novel. u will be surprised to find a new and other undiscoverd facet of what islam is all about and what muslims are so faithful about when it comes to Allah.

u will find all ur answers regarding the doubts u have about islam, muslims and about Allah.

ALLAH HAFIZ (may the Lord be with u)
thank u
may Allah bless us and guide us in the right path and forgive us for the sins
