I'm a 20 year old folk musician and I'm thinking about moving up to New York City. Are there any coffee shops or bars or open mic nights that are pretty accepting of indie folk music? And does my being 20 hurt things? Thanks for your help!

Hi, I'll be going to NYC with my parents for several days next week, our first time. We'll be staying at the Millenium. We pretty much got down the tourist attractions and tours but not much for where to shop and eat.

We are after mostly souviniers but as well as clothes and interesting stuff for shopping, price can range from little to a lot, but of course we preffer to shop where we get the most for our bucks, but we don't mind spending several hundred dollars.

And where to eat, I know there are a lot of restaurants and delis and hot dog carts there, but we don't know where's the best or the worst. Other than the hot dog carts, where are some good pizza places, and the other authentic New York foods are at?

Thanks.

I'll be in NY, early November from Tues to Sunday. This will be my first trip and will have my parents with me. Some things I already know we will be doing are going to Broadway, shopping, Met (museum), Guggenheim, Central Park, Statue of Liberty, etc. Anything else? Touristy and off-the-beaten-path suggestions are completely welcome. Thank you!

We are relocating to NY. Now searching for a right place. Anyone can comment, where in New Jersey should I look into? As I have 3 young kids, good school would be good, and a safe neighbourhood too.

I am traveling to NYC and would like to know from some of you comedians out there which clubs have the best open mics/new talent showcases. Some clubs are pretty crappy and don't pay attention to you, are too expensive, and nobody shows up. I know open mics tend to be like this but I have been doing stand up for a few years so it isn't just a basic open mic. They do new talent showcases so I guess more specifically which one of those are the best to do. Thanks.

Me and my husband just celebrated our fourth wedding anniversary and had a wonderful time, now we are planning our fifth wedding anniversary, a big milestone for us, and were thinking about going to New York to see a show on broadway. Is this something you would recommend and if so what is the best hotel to stay in?

I don't need any rude comments, but I've known since I was very little that I want to live in New York near Manhattan or preferably in Manhattan. However, this year I decided I want to pursue a career in teaching high school English. Does anyone know if it would be possible to live in Manhattan fresh out of college on a teacher's salary and still pay the bills?
