wow, I just did a search on the link michael's mummy provided. Its indeed expensive. But I have 3 kids, school district is very expensive.

Initially we were considering New Jersey as my husband's office is there. But we are not sure which part of New Jersey has good school and a safe neighbourhood for raising up family..

Hi...Yes Bayside is a great area to raise a family. I used to live near by. You should look into Fresh Meadows also. They both are a bit costly...but very convenient. If you have kids its the best school district...Queens SD#26.

There are parks in the area: Crocheron Park, Peck Park, Cunningham Park, etc. It's very close to long island...

Most of Northern Queens has a huge population of Asians. In Bayside you'll find a variety but mostly Jewish and Korean, in Fresh Meadows mainly Chinese. A 10 minute drive will bring you to Flushing...which is a huge asian community (not as great for bringing up kids)

Almost all of Bayside is nice...I personally prefer areas near Bell Blvd. I don't like to be too far north bc you'll get all the Throg's Neck Bridge traffic...but I guess it's worth it if you get waterview property.

Hollis Hills is a small area within Bayside and that is really nice too...

Take a look at http://www.mlsli.com/unisearch.cfm

Good Luck!

***Take into consideration that property taxes in Queens is a lot cheaper than in NJ...average queens house is about $3500 per year compared to $10K in Jersey...so if you do purchase a house in Queens you'd save about $500 month.

The more north you go in Bayside the richer the area. Overall, Bayside is like Long Island without the exorbitant taxes. All of Bayside is nice. As far as Asians, the big community is in Flushing, right next to Bayside.

Love it! It is a great area and has fun night live on bell blvd (don't worry it's nothing like Manhattan). and gets nice and quiet in the outer streets. It is alot like Long Island but you live closer to the city ( Manhattan ). You are close to little neck bay which is very pretty and at night can see the throgs neck bridge which is also very nice at light. It is expensive to own a home. A semi detached is what most middle class families live in. Some coops/condos in Oakland gardens which is south bayside and more quite are affordable.
