Well it depends where you come from, but when i went for the first time in July i loved it!
Well the 1st day i would have gone home if i could because it is so busy and big. Also we couldn't find our way around for anything!
But then again we had been up for 20 hours! And come from a small town in the UK.
But the next day was better and we got used to the business & everything really quick! And finding your way around is easy once you get the hang of it!
But one thing i didn't get used to was the constant noise. Even at night there was like a buzzing sound, but as your so active in the way you soon fall asleep and forget about it!
Have a great time, it is an amazing place!

Finding a Bathroom: First things first. If you have to go to the bathroom, try a Barnes & Nobles, or a Starbuck's Coffee. Both usually have reasonably clean bathrooms, but your mileage may vary. At Starbuck's you'll need to ask for a key, maybe even buy something.
Avoid empty subway cars, ride with many people or in the conductor's car (usually the middle car of the train).
Never display large amounts of cash out in the open.
Don't keep your wallet in the back pocket of your pants or in a backpack. Moving the wallet to the front pocket of your pants will reduce your chance of being pick-pocketed.
Be aware of your wallet or purse in commotions Pick pockets often use helpers to create a disturbance nearby.
Telephone information from a payphone is free. Simply dial 555-1212 on any pay phone and ask for the number of the business or person you are looking for. You don't need to put in any change.

And bring a map with you and take the subway it's more faster and relieable. And don't talk to strangers and have fun!

Are you coming to NY for a few days/wks or are you coming here for school (college, or whatnot?)? Well, if you're just visiting in the next week or so, the weather won't be so great, it'll be drizzling and raining, but there'll be lots of things to do. You need to go to the usual 42 St., Broadway, Statue of Liberty, South St. Seaport & travel in the outskirts of the city like in Queens. Manhattan is going to be very busy but will be lively at night. If you like to party go lounge/bar hopping. If it happens to be a nice day, go to Coney Island and Jones Beach.
Expect lots of traffic and rain, but make the best of it!!

Labor Day Weekend should be packed with people in NY. Go to Washington Square Park in Greenwich Village if you are having troubles absorbing it all.

NYC? Expect a lot! You will either Enjoy it A LOT or feel anxious and nervous because of how big and busy it is. I Love it. My friend... not so much. She gets really nervous being in such a large place like the city. But, So much to do out there. Have fun!!
