Hi, I am moving to NYC and wanted to see if anyone has any websites that shows CRIME statistics for neighborhoods within Manhattan and Brooklyn. If you know of such a site, please let me know. THanks. Or if you are a NEw yorker, what would you recommend that is safe, especially a 21 year old female to travel to campus in NYU and back with out worry. Thanks

Does anyone have any suggestions for other viewing locations for the Ball drop in Times Square for new years?

ya know, like knowing the right people in some of the surronding buildings in the area that has perfect views of the action WITHOUT being in the packed crowds or putting up with the police.

I want to do an internship in NYC, but I am not from there and the internship would be unpaid and they offer no housing or etc. Any advice? Because I REALLY want to do it, but I am just not sure of how to handle living expenses and figuring out a place to live and travel costs, etc.

I am moving to Manhattan in few weeks (from NJ)...
I still have to commute to Teaneck-NJ (About 10 miles to Manhattan) at least 3 days a week for school,
It would be easier and cheaper (i think so) to go there by car but parking is gonna be a problem in Manhattan.
So what do you think?
Should I sell my car and commute by bus or path?
or keep the car and find a cheap parking garage or park it on the Manhattan streets?

The background: in September, my mother and I are traveling to New York City for 10 days on our holiday. We're flying into Newark, and I had wrongly assumed there'd be a direct train to Grand Central Station (we're staying at the Grand Hyatt http://grandnewyork.hyatt.com/ , which is right next to Grand Central Station).

I tried to use the public transport travel planner to see how to do this, but the only options it gave me included two trains and a bus. Is there any easier way to get to Grand Central that does NOT involve two transfers with our suitcases, aside from taking a taxi?

When I'm in Manhattan I can't concentrate or think about anything. I can see things, but I don't really see them. But mostly my vision is different, its like I can't focus on anything.

Its a weird feeling I get everytime I'm there, even when I lived there.

Anyone know what it is?

I guess this question is for Long Island residents. My friend gave my e-mail to a certain someone she wants me to meet, who happens to be Suffolk County police officer... I'm supposed to give him a call, but I'm curious will this born and raised Long Islander more than likely have that accent? Is it that common, or is it something you'll find on every other person?

Will be traveling to NYC for general sightseeing this weekend. I'm thinking about parking in NJ at a PATH station, taking PATH to Manhattan, using NYC subway for a day of sightseeing (Central Park, Empire State Building, shopping, etc.) Is either of these options better than the other:

option 1: park at Newark/Penn Station, take PATH to World Trade Center, transfer to NYC subway

option 2: park at Journal Square, take PATH to 33rd St., transfer to NYC subway

Any other options that would be better??? Thanks!
