NJ to NY via PATH?

Question

Will be traveling to NYC for general sightseeing this weekend. I'm thinking about parking in NJ at a PATH station, taking PATH to Manhattan, using NYC subway for a day of sightseeing (Central Park, Empire State Building, shopping, etc.) Is either of these options better than the other:

option 1: park at Newark/Penn Station, take PATH to World Trade Center, transfer to NYC subway

option 2: park at Journal Square, take PATH to 33rd St., transfer to NYC subway

Any other options that would be better??? Thanks!

Either option will work. It depends on where you are starting your sight-seeing - down in the area of WTC or uptown at the Empire State Building, or elsewhere.

There is also option 1a - Take the Path at Newark, switch trains at Journal Square and still go to 33rd (the 33rd street Path train is on the opposite side of the same platform). At 33rd, you will be within walking distance of the Empire State Building.

Take care when parking at the Newark Path that the lot you select does not close before you plan on returning. The parking deck at Journal Square is open 24 hours last time I was there.

Option 1

There is a popular subway location one block away from the WTC site. Also if you want to tour the South Street Seaport before getting on the Subway, that is right there too. There is a lot of fun things to do at the Sea Port. Fun shopping and always something to do.

A bit more expensive but really pretty is to park in weehawken by the ferry terminal and take the ferry to the city.
There are shuttle buses from the ferry terminal in NYC to midtown http://www.nywaterway.com. You could also park in a muni lot in hoboken and take the path into the city.

harrison is the best path parking big lot
from harrison go to Journal Square and yuo can trasnfer to mid town or up town.
