Hi, I am moving to NYC and wanted to see if anyone has any websites that shows CRIME statistics for neighborhoods within Manhattan and Brooklyn. If you know of such a site, please let me know. THanks. Or if you are a NEw yorker, what would you recommend that is safe, especially a 21 year old female to travel to campus in NYU and back with out worry. Thanks

It's amaze NYC still is perceived as a crime haven. The city's crime rate has dropped drastically in the last 10 years that today it's one of the safest cities in the country.

Manhatten is much safer of a community. If traveling a little is an option then I would sugesst living in one of the outer laying suberbs to the City itself. The schools and stores are better there. If you are under the misconception that NY is like they show on tv then let me enlighten you...it isn't. Southern california in comparission is much much worse. So take a bite out of the big apple just remember to by a warm coat for the winter it can snow starting as early as late October.
