L.I.C. and Astoria are mostly comprised of the Greek and Italian Communities. Astoria is very close to LIC that's why I mentioned it.
Good thing about LIC, it's right before the Queensboro Bridge, so you're literally 5 minutes away from manhattan. LIC is being developed into what is an up and coming high price neighborhood, with high rise condos and the fact that it's that close to the city is what will make it a very expensive place to live in- in a few years. At the moment though LIC is still filled with factories, the SilverCup Studios is located there as well.
Bad things about LIC- sometimes it's hard getting there if you're not familiar with the area b/c it's confusing. Also, it's close to the 'el' (Elevated trains) so it can be very noisy at times. Traffic can be horrible as well b/c of people heading to the city clogging the streets specially during rush hour.

LIC is still very industrial although they are building it up residential (especially right by the water). The views are great but it is very expensive to get into one of the new buildings. I would not consider it Italian. I think it is a good investment if you're willing to wait a few good years.

Yes long Island has a wonderful Italian community influence. The food there is absolutely amazing! Alot of Irish live there too. In most NY citys you will find a high concentration of Irish and Italian people.

good things- very close to the city, budding community, water taxi beach, lots of art stuff going on.
bad- industrial, not pretty, elevated trains
neighborhood is very close to Astoria (BIG BONUS) which is Greek but also mixed.
I wouldn't consider LIC to be an Italian neighborhood.

Not great, but getting better.
Still very kind of industrial and abandoned feeling away from the waterfront. Some interesting stuff going on there. Great views of Manhattan.
