New York City

Should I take the A train from JFK, transfer to the BDFV at Washington Square, and then get off at the Rockefeller Center stop?

Or, the AirTrain to Jamaica - Sutphin, get on the E train and get off at 5th Ave?

I typically take a cab, but wanted to experience travel on public transportation there. I'm from Chicago, so I always take the Blue line to O'hare. I hear that Chicago's is better to/from the airport, but NY's is better once you get to Manhatten.

My partner and i have to get to Penn Station to catch an 8am train to Montreal. What time should we leave our hotel in East 30th St to make it to penn station by 7.30am??? Also- will it be easier to walk or get a cab???

Hi everyone!

I was born and bred in London, and want to try the NY lifestyle! I am thinking of moving there for 2/3 months to see how it is.

What sort of budget does one need to live in a nice area/comfortably? I would like to be in the centre, in a nice area.

By the way! I am 20, on my gap year...etc.etc...you get the drift...

Any suggestions...or new yorkers with advice?

Im travelling to New York from Sydney Australia in December 2008 and i was wondering what i should be aware of travelling around this time of year. I will be leaving mid way through December and will be there for Christmas. I need to go into Manhatten to the 42nd street Port Autority from Essex County NJ. Ive tried to find scheduals but all i can find is getting around the city (i.e. one burough to another) but not from NJ. Any ideas?

Can anyone help? I did a Sex and the City tour last time I was in NY and we went to the apartment that was used as Carrie's stoop - did the touristy thing and had my photo taken on the steps but I can't remember where it was! I think it was the lower west side - does anyone know the street?
