What did the hotel concierge say when you asked? Does the hotel offer a shuttle service to New York City? Do you happen to know anyone who could drive there..?

Woodbury Common is my favorite place in the world to shop, and I would not recommend going on a bus and be restricted by bus schedules. You can easily spend a whole day there and forget that the bus was leaving without you!

But if you absolutely must go on public transportation, the easiest from Newark would be to find your way to Port Authority in New York. They run a shuttle bus to Woodbury Common every day.

Either way, ask your hotel front desk! They'll be more than happy to help you.

Woodbury Common Outlet is, by far, my favorite outlet. My 14-year-old loves it, too. It is located in Harriman, New York, near Route 17 and Interstate 87. There is a train station about two miles away. The link is listed below for the Metro-North Railroad.

If you're going to drive, then do the Garden State Parkway north to the New York State Thruway (I87) north. You get on the Thruway at exit 14. You need to get off at Exit 16. Once off the exit, there's an access road right into the Commons.

Trains: not as easy. There is a train station in Harriman, but no shuttle to the Commons to my knowledge.

Bus: As someone else said, get to Port Authority and there's several that run every day.
