Long island is shaped like a fish. Brooklyn would be considered the head of the fish. Long Island is however made up of only suffolk and nassau counties. So yes and no.

Yes, Brooklyn is on Long Island. Yet it is in NYC jurisdiction not Long Island jurisdiction. Queens is also on Long Island, but in NYC. The only two counties on the island are Nassau and Suffolk.

Your questions did not make a huge amount of sense, but I'll give it a shot. Long Island is that big part of New York State sticking way out into the ocean. At it's western tip are the boroughs of Queens and Brooklyn (Kings County). Manhattan (New York County) is it's own island, as is Staten Island (Richmond County). The Bronx is the only part of NYC that is on the mainland.

although Brooklyn and Queens are physically on Long Island, when people in NY say Long Island, they mean Nassau and Suffolk.
