Should I take the A train from JFK, transfer to the BDFV at Washington Square, and then get off at the Rockefeller Center stop?

Or, the AirTrain to Jamaica - Sutphin, get on the E train and get off at 5th Ave?

I typically take a cab, but wanted to experience travel on public transportation there. I'm from Chicago, so I always take the Blue line to O'hare. I hear that Chicago's is better to/from the airport, but NY's is better once you get to Manhatten.

Thanks!

You have to pay $5 AirTrain to one of station. To Sutphin blvd better, because E train is express in queens area and get off at 5Av/53 St, Total running time 1 hour. Subway is only $7( $5+2) Cab is about $60.

This route is the most direct but the slowest: F train to 179st. Q3 to JFK airport.

You can also take the F to Union Turnpike and transfer to the E. Take the E to Sutphin for the Airtrain.

Another method is to take the B/D/F/V to 34st, walk one block over to Penn Station. Take the LIRR to Jamaica for the Airtrain.

No , You don't want take the A from JFK . Until you hit Nostrand Ave, it can be like the Green Line from Cottage Grove to the Loop -just twice as long
Take the AirTrain to the E & then E to 5th Ave.
That routing is also faster.

What you should do is take the air train to jamaica station and then take the long island rail road to grand central station, which is like 4 blocks from rockefeller center.
