I'm a lifelong New Yorker. I used to work in the World Trade Center before 9/11 - and, after the terrorist attacks, I was one of the 17,000 men and women who helped to repair the damage.

So, I've always found it a bit creepy to see that the hole where the two great towers used to be has become a tourist attraction.

I know that the tourists are trying to show their respect, but it does seem kinda gruesome, considering that 2,900 people were murdered at that site on that tragic day.

What do other folks think?

I snapped a picture of this place and found out later by carefully reviewing the pictures some weird shapes like statues, but totally white, and just wondered if these "statues" were part of the park. Any New Yorkers willing to help? here's the link to the pic: http://pg.photos.yahoo.com/ph/fernandolujan/detail?.dir=/ce85scd&.dnm=cea6scd.jpg&.src=ph

By hole-in-the wall, I am referring to the place where the guy who cooks is the guy who owns the place and his wife is the only staff he has besides his kids who hang out there. If you have ever been to Baltimore, Eastern Avenue would be a good example for Hispanic food.

My friend and I are taking a trip to New York in a few weeks and we are staying at the Skyline Hotel in the Hell's Kitchen-Clinton area, which is why we are asking this question. Any information would be appreciated. Also, if any New Yorkers or visitors to New York, know anything about this hotel and the area, we would appreciate those comments as well. Thanks.
