We all know what is typically loved in NYC; the broadway shows; Italian food at 2 in the morning; shows at Madison Square Garden; Central Park; museums; clubs and poetry readings; listening to the blues in a bar and then walking through Grenich Village. BUT, what is it that you hate about NYC?

It's our first trip to N.Y.C. and we love music. We're I guess what you'd call "Artsy" from Chicago. We'd like to do things on our trip geared in that direction. Any & All suggestions would be awesome!
Thanks! Rock On!

I've been there once before last December i imagined it to be so much more glamorous, with everyone dressed like Carrie Bradshaw but it was actually quite scruffy! So where are the glam areas in Manhattan to go out? because all I found were endless jazz and Irish bars.

(still loved the place though, even though I thought the place was overun by beggers)

I just posted a question and showed this ad http://newyork.craigslist.org/brx/abo/281942926.html . A few people said that was expensive. How and where can I find something cheaper?

Why is it that a lot of the showers in NYC apartments have the showerheads placed against the opposite wall than usual showerheads? I mean they're not placed at the end of the tub, they're right in the middle of the tub, along the wrong wall so you can barely move when you bathe. Does this seem retarded to anyone else? i.e. http://newyork.craigslist.org/brx/abo/281942926.html

We'd need a place with kitchen facilities near a store for food. Stairs are no problem. Would prefer a place in the East or West 50's or 60's.Am I dreaming?

For spring break, I am going with my family(two adults, two kids) to New York city.
Does anybody have any info on a good hotel in or around manhattan at a good price (possibly even less than 300 dollars)? I've looked at many websites and found many hotels, but the problem is that I have no infromation on which areas would be a good idea to stay, and which wouldn't!
We are thinking about going sometime around the second week of march, for 4-6 days..

any help would be much appreciated!!

I was wondering about Time Square in New-York City, and how it got it's famous name? Would it be because of the famous new year celabrations that takes place there every year or some other reason. Forgive my ignorence on this.

I will be visiting NYC this weekend and am interested in shopping stores that include plus sizes. I found the name of Soho Woman but they don't have a website. Anyone been there and if so, what do you think of it? Young & hip clothing or big old tent dresses? If you know of any other boutiques that carry plus sizes, let me know what you think of them too! I've already written down Century 21, Avenue, Daffy's, Loehmann's, Filene's & Serene Rose.

I'm interested in finding stylish, up-to-date clothing, not caftans or muumuu's.

Thanks for any and all suggestions!

How long would it take, on an average weekday, to get from White Plains, NY to the Grand Central terminal station in New York City?? Or, where would I be able to find that information? I just got a job in Manhattan and I'm thinking of moving to White Plains, but I don't want to keep my car. Thanks!
