For spring break, I am going with my family(two adults, two kids) to New York city.
Does anybody have any info on a good hotel in or around manhattan at a good price (possibly even less than 300 dollars)? I've looked at many websites and found many hotels, but the problem is that I have no infromation on which areas would be a good idea to stay, and which wouldn't!
We are thinking about going sometime around the second week of march, for 4-6 days..

any help would be much appreciated!!

I have two suggestions. The Belvedere Hotel on 48th Street in the Theatre District/Times Square. Very clean, very friendly staff. Every room has a microwave, fridge and coffee maker. The bus and subway are on the corner. In the middle of everything - check out the restaurants on Eighth and Ninth Avenue (Seventh Avenue and Broadway cater more to tourists - Eighth and Ninth Avenue cater more to locals - the prices are much better, and, since they want return customers, the food tends to be much better.) Rooms at the Belvedere start at $160 - you may be able to negotiate a better deal through Orbitz or PriceLine. Whatever hotel you decide on, check out what customers have to say at Trip Advisor or another similar site - look at the pictures taken by the guests - not by the hotel - hotels use professional photographers who could make a pig sty look luxurious.

Or, a few blocks away on East 39th Street, in Murray Hill, a lovely upscale residential neighborhood, is a small hotel called the Murray Hill Suites. Each suite has a dishwasher, fridge, microwave, coffeemaker. You can bring your restaurants leftovers back with you and eat them the next day. This hotel is very clean and everyone seems to be satisfied.

No matter what hotel you choose, see what the prior guests have to say about it and whether or not they would go back. You can read Trip Advisor here:

Have a great trip!

Listen to me: This is the best location, price and atmosphere. It is very artsy nuveau, clean and close to everything, including like a 50 yard walk to the center of Times Square and a block from Broadway. Check here:

So, you're asking for an "exact address" for a hotel in midtown that's no longer there, but was "somewhere on 7th Ave" in the 1960's???? Sure, that would be at the corner of 7th Avenue and Ridiculous Street.
