I was wondering about Time Square in New-York City, and how it got it's famous name? Would it be because of the famous new year celabrations that takes place there every year or some other reason. Forgive my ignorence on this.

It used to be called Long Acre Square; when the newspaper, The New York Times moved there, in 1904, the name was changed to Times Square (after the newspaper).
