It's our first trip to N.Y.C. and we love music. We're I guess what you'd call "Artsy" from Chicago. We'd like to do things on our trip geared in that direction. Any & All suggestions would be awesome!
Thanks! Rock On!

Buy a copy of TimeOut New York and/or look at their website.

Have your son go through this, and when he finds bands he would like to hear, either come back here and ask if there are age requirements at that venue or just call them directly and ask. Many of these venues have no age requirements, so you shouldn't have a problem. Have a great time!

There are quite a few clubs in the city that have "all ages" shows. It really depends on the band and the time. They will often be during the day on weekends, or start at 6:00PM.

Definitely get a copy of "Time Out New York" and pick some shows that you would like to see. You can also search their website before you arrive.

I'm sure if you contact the venues they can tell if you your son would be allowed with you. Sometimes the age rule only applies to un-accompanied minors.

Have fun!

Unfortunately I'm not from NYC and I don't know of any specific places.. I just wanted to say, though, that is SO COOL that you're encouraging music. That is so awesome!!
