I just posted a question and showed this ad http://newyork.craigslist.org/brx/abo/281942926.html . A few people said that was expensive. How and where can I find something cheaper?

I meant a site or place I can browse. Not a borough. It has to be in the Bronx.

I assume you're going to fordham, that's why you need it in the bronx?

Riverdale & Throgs Neck are expensive and out of the way. Try Pelham Bay or the Pelham Parkway area, or Moshulu Pkway.

I second the last poster's suggestion, somewhat. You're not going to find anything reasonably priced in NYC or any of the surrounding boroughs, but you might find something good in NJ. Not in Newark though, unless you want to get shot. I'd suggest Hoboken. It's only a 15 minute PATH ride into the city.

Sound like a scam. Did they ask for a money transfer or wire. You can't even get a studio in NYC for that much. I live in NYC public Housing, which is the cheapest way to live, I pay that much for a 2 bedroom, 1 bath, no balcony.

In the Bronx apartments are either expencive or dangerous, some times both.
Keep looking on Craig's List, thats a good bet.

Read the obituaries in the Bronx - find a "newly vacant" apartment in a rent controlled or stablized building in an area you would like to live in - and give the super a large bribe to make sure you get that apartment.

Try the lower East Side, Morningside Heights, or up near 137th and Lenox...

Newark, NJ. It's about 20 min from Manhattan by NJT or Path trains.

All the apartments that this place lists are overpriced. Just keep looking. cragslist is ok, but it only costs someone $10 to list, so why not take a chance that someone will overpay?

Good luck! NYC has one of the most expensive housing markets in the country, if not the world.

I think you should be able to find one in the year 1985.
