We all know what is typically loved in NYC; the broadway shows; Italian food at 2 in the morning; shows at Madison Square Garden; Central Park; museums; clubs and poetry readings; listening to the blues in a bar and then walking through Grenich Village. BUT, what is it that you hate about NYC?

What I despise about NY:
Dirty hot crowded underground subways that smell like urine;dirty, smelly streets filled with old food, dog poop, garbage, and your occassional rat;sometimes you go through five people before you find one that speaks English so they could tell you directions;overpriced restaurants and shops;paying 40 bucks for a few hours of parking;parking tickets;alternate side parking;no parking;cabbies that don't know how to get you to where wanna go;seems like everyone is always trying to get money out of you;drastic weather changes from freezing snow and ice storms to heat waves;last but not least overpriced housing and utilities.

The weather! It's overcast and cold! At least it was when I was there.... I'm a California girl, I love the sunshine!

Mostly I like New York. However, I think a lot of other cities are more "user-friendly". For instance, the subway seems needlessly complicated. It seems weird that they color-code the lines, but no one calls them by the color names--unlike almost every other city in the world. Long time New Yorkers also seem a bit stuck on themselves and very provincial, with little knowledge of the rest of the country or the world.

Probably my least favorite thing is all the homeless people. There are also A LOT of beggars and panhandlers in Manhattan, which often makes the place seem more like a Third World city than America. As a tourist, I really preferred getting into the outer boroughs, where real people live and not a lot of tourists go.

The PEOPLE on the subway. I love that I can get anywhere that I want fairly quickly, but the morons that populate the NYC subway system are just a nightmare.

The worst is when I'm standing near a door and step out of the car to allow others to get off. Now, it is plainly obvious that I am getting back on, but people waiting on the platform will still attempt to shove their way in front of me. Hell no, I won't allow that! They receive a sharp jab to the solar plexus with my very pointy elbow.

And then there are the *** grabbers. I won't get into them, but do recommend stomping on their feet as hard as possible if they get too frisky.

I don't like how dirty and smelly some parts of NYC is...Inhaling the lovely aroma of rotting garbage on the way to dinner was a good way to keep my appetite down though, so I definitely didn't gain weight!

My biggest complaint is the amount of people in the city during the holidays. I can't stand it! The tourists just stand there taking there good old time when you are trying to get somewhere. There are people everywhere!
