I'm planning on moving to North Miami this summer for college to attend JWU. I'm wondering if a car is necessary? Is public transportation good in that area? In the dc are we have zipcar and flexcar(car sharing/rental) I'm just wondering if they are planning on expanding zipcar or flexcar down to miami?

My husband and I want to get away for a few days in January or February. I'd like a quiet, private beach house or villa somewhere warm. We have direct flights to Ft. lauderdale so maybe somewhere in that area. I'm tired of doing internet searches and would love to be directed to a specific rental home. Thanks!

I'm reallly really scared. seems all the posts say it's NOT safe in Miami, not alone for female solo traveler.

Thanks, finally, my mom and dad are taking me to Florida! I'm 16 and i live in Canada, and during the Christmas holidays were going to Florida for a week for vacation! I'm so glad since I've spent so much time studying and haven't really relaxed.

I really don't know what to check out there except for the Disneyland resort, so please can anyone list some places near the Disneyland resort that are worth seeing and visiting? Since were going residing near Disneyland (because of my sister) we are only limited to the places nearby (100km?)

So please anyone, I need you help.

Thank you in advance.!

I've lived in Miami all my life, and I'm VERY over all the clubs and touristy things. My friend is from a VERY small town in the south and I'm not sure what he'd want to do. He doesn't like the Miami Beach scene, either, but I'm sure he'd want to do something fun and interesting. Any ideas? Any fun indie adventures?

My friend and I are going on a cruise. We need to book a hotel for a total of three nights in Fort Lauderdale. We don't want to spend too much but want to be within walking distance of attractions (restaurants, bars, beach, etc). Also, if they have a shuttle service from/to the airport/dock that would be great too.

Any information will benefit us out-of-towners :)

Hi I was interested in moving to Kendall I may have a Job offer making about 34,000 a year. I lived in Fort Lauderdale for 3 years and liked it. I have friends in Kendall and I have been looking at apartments for about 800s or so. Is Kendall a decent area to live and worth it? I know it isn't much of a night life but I am not interested in that. No I don't speak spanish and I am a single white male. Just given all the details. Thanks

I'm worried about the future of Miami, and I don't even live there. It looks like such a vibrant city.

I've never been to the keys before so I looked on Tripadvisor.com to find a nice place. I looked at some resorts and reviews for Islamorada. I'm not so sure I liked what I saw.

The hotels looked like it was 1955. Are they still that way?

Many people said there's not much beach in the Keys - is that true?

Where is a good resort (all inclusive if possible) in the Keys?

Which is the best Key to go to for some real R&R (not lokking for family vacations, BTW)?

Can you help me find a great place to go?

Due to my husband’s possible job transfer, we are considering moving to the following cities:

Ft. Lauderdale
Jacksonville
Miami
Orlando
Vero Beach
West Palm Beach
I’m looking for any and all information about these cities that current residents can offer. Some information I’m looking for is:
Is this city mostly urban, suburban, rural or a mix?
What can be expected of weather at various times of the year?
What can be said of the cost of living in this city? How can it be compared with Southern Connecticut?
Which city would you prefer to live in yourself and why?
What are the most significant pros and cons of these cities?

We come from an area that offers urban living very close to rural areas, with a wide variety of weather so we're kind of spoiled as far as having our options open. I hope not to live in an area that gets too hot- or at least not humid. Urban areas are best but we hope to be in a safe neighborhood. We don't have much money so low cost of living is a priority.
