Kendall is a great area. It's very middle class, and a safe neighborhood to live in. You're close by to supermarkets, all kinds of shopping, movie theatres, and restaurants. I happen to love the area, and think you would be very happy there as well because it's so diverse. I don't speak Spanish either, and have found that most people there speak English so I never have a problem. Try to find a place located close to the Turnpike...it will save you time in traffic, since Kendall Drive can be a nightmare during rush hour...the further west you go, the more difficult the traffic situation is.
Homes have gotten a little pricey, so I think your best bet is to rent a nice apartment. There are alot of places for rent that give you access to a pool and fitness room.
There is a nice bar/cocktail lounge, btw, called Gastby's located in the Kendall. Awesome drinks. :)

34k in Kendall? Good luck. There are very few affordable neighborhoods on that salary in South Florida unless you have a spouse or a roomate with an income who can split the bills with you. You may find a very small studio or 1 bedroom apt in Kendall in the 800's if you are lucky. I rented in Kendall back in 2000 when my wife and I were married and we paid 800 for a 1 bedroom back then at Biscayne Beach Club. There selling those units for 250-300K now. That is a great starting salary in most parts of the country where rent is and home prices are reasonable such as the mid-west or North Florida to Virginia. Do what I did and get out of there while you can. I love going back to visit and love Miami as long as I don't have to live there. My wife and I made 90k a year in Kendall and were up to our neck in bills and traffic. We now live in upstate NY and have a house twice the size for half the price and higher salaries. Our commute times are also 1/3 less what they were there to travel the same distance.

Kendall is a huge area. Very Suburban. The area known as Dadeland (after the shopping mall) & the other parts of Kendall around Kendall Drive & US-1 actually do have some decent night-life. They are just a couple of minutes from South Miami and about 15 min. from Coconut Grove.
There are about 7,000 to 8,000 (yes, thousand) new condominium apartments either recently completed or coming on line in the next 12 months, within a mile radius of Dadeland (This is the epicenter of the So. Fla. condo building boom/bust) of which 2/3 were purchased by investors, so rents are very reasonable compared to the rest of Miami.

Well if you have a job offer...that's a big help(as long as you are sure you can get by without any Spanish at all...a little bit is always helpful though). Kendall is okay to live...i live close by, but i work in the area. The traffic is heavy though...especially on N Kendall Dr(SW 88street)...However, most things are around the area or the corner esp off of 88street...you have a couple hospitals in the area, resteraunts, supermarkets, shopping(electronics, clothes, books, home, etc.), there is a little bit of recreation(ice skating, roller skating, bowling, movies, etc.)...the population is mainly hispanic...but there is a good mixture too...you have black, white, asian, caribbean. As long as you can afford it...it is worth it...oh yea...and you have easy acess to city buses and Kendall is close to the south end of the MetroRail(train station)...Hope i helped...

Alicia is on maternity go away so as that keeps up her tale on the instruct. yet Thorsten Kaye desperate he didn't wish to be far faraway from his relatives and chosen to choose out of the pass so who is conscious what the tie up tale would be for him. Greenlee? not a fan. Love Rebecca Budig yet her character i could desire to in straightforward terms strangle! and that i'm so not down with each and all the Greenlee love. it is so not AMC!

Why rent? You should contact a local REALTOR to find out about the quality of life there and become a homeowner. You can do it!

Kendal is in the Lake District in the UK and you don't need to speak Spanish, but you may need an umbrella as it rains a lot there.
