My husband and I are taking a trip to Miami in January. My question is , do we need to rent a car while in Miami? We plan on staying in a hotel in South Beach (Marriot, Ritz, or Loew's).

My friends and I are in our mid 20s and looking for something to do on New Years Eve in the South Florida area - Miami, Broward, or West Palm. I don't want to go somewhere that involves clubbing and hard core partying (most South Beach clubs). We do drink and love to dance. Love cultural events. Like games, but not kiddie type events. I want something free or under $50. Any ideas?

I've been considering moving to Miami Florida for college after I graduate highschool in 2008. But this will be my first time being independent so I need to know everything I need to do when moving. I already know that I need to get a car and map before I move down there. But what are all the other things I have to do from the first to last step. where could I get a map.

-thanks in advance

I am soo sick of these cubans refusing to learn english. It's so bad that you cant even get a minimum wage job in Miami unless you are biligual. To add insult to injury when you drive around some neighborhoods all of the store fronts are in spanish. It's as if you are in a foreign country. This is America. Speak english. What you do in your own hosehold is your own affair but in the workplace english should be mandatory. Its isnt fair for the Americans who were actually born here. I think if you move to this country and you want to enjoy the benefits of living here you need to learn the language and not expect everyone to learn your language.

HI! - my husband & I want to go to Miami during the Winter and we're wondering if the ocean is still warm enough to swim in at the end of December or even January?

Our schedules may be restricted to either early January or late February/early March -- can someone please tell me which of these two time frames is generally warmer for swimming?

Thanks! :)

snaked enjoy sunbathing as well as people do; especially they love sunny areas near pools, so they come to the hotels and sunbathe near the pools, turning this way and that, and having a dip when it's too hot; and the management goes crazy about it, because they didn't check into the hotel and didn't pay?

In a few months my 13 yr old daughter and I will be spending a day and night in Miami before our cruise leaves and I was wondering how safe it would be for us to walk in Miami? I don't mean walk the streets at night, I just mean go from our hotel a few blocks to grab a bite and see a few things in the afternoon. We are staying at the Radisson on Biscayne Blvd and according to Google Earth it looks like there are a few places right in the few closest blocks where we could eat on a more modest budget rather than overspending in the hotel dining room. Any advice?

I'm looking for an unique hotel that I've never been at before in Miami. For example, the Mayfair in the grove has private Jacuzzis on a private patio outside of some of their rooms. Want to experience something different then the same hotel as every other. So if anyone has any hotels that different, unique, fun and romantic please let me know! Not a big fan of south beach, Miami area/Fort Lauderdale area is better for me.

Thanks!
