I don't know why no one has mentioned that most people here don't like our public transportation system. Unless you're trying to go up and down US1 and into downtown you wont get the metro, and the buses take longer than they should.

The bus system is improving a little, but if your job is in the wrong place, or you don't live next to a bus stop, it could take some time.

I ride bike a lot, but miami is pretty spread out. It's kind of important here to have a car.

Yes. There is an elevated train - Metro-Rail -- and an extensive bus system. Fare is $1.50 for either plus $.50 transfer from one to the other. Residents over 65 can apply for a free pass. Downtown has a FREE elevated transport system -- Metro-Mover - that has central, southern & northern loops that will take you within a few blocks of just about anywhere downtown.

Yes, great transpotation system: Metrorail is an elevated rail system that runs North-South with 22 stations that connect a major portion of Miami-Dade County to business, cultural and shopping centers. Also Metromover, which is free automated people-mover system that serves Downtown Miami.
Metrobus is in Miami-Dade County down to Broward County with 94 routes year-round.
And, Tri-Rail is a commuter rail system that links Miami-Dade, Broward, and Palm Beach Counties.
.They also provide free shuttle service to/from all three airports.

Some do.. the Metro Rail [what its called] mostly takes you downtown and to beach areas. No taxis, I've only seen those in Key West. The Metro Rail cost $1.50 I believe....

Yes we do....MLAW got it down pact. There are many city buses that take various routes($1.50reg for adult...students 75cents), the MetroRail(elevated train-$1.50 each time you go through the gate), Metromovers(strictly the downtown/overtown/brickell areas) and then there is also the Tri-Rail train(im not sure how much that is).
