I live about an hour away (Inland Empire) and am trying to figure out what is the best, cheapest, easiest way to get to LAX on Christmas Night. Not sure how much traffic there will be either??
-I am debating renting a car and 2 carseats
-Taking a shuttle (not sure if they supply carseats??)
-Having someone drop me off (although I am sure everyone will be busy on Christmas)
-Parking at LAX

How much will each of these cost me? Any other ideas??

Being born and raised in southern California, and knowing about the drought conditions because the lack of rainfall the past few years, I am confused when the weather forecasters talk about a rain storm being a bad thing, and how it is good news when we don't get as much rain as predicted. Anyone agree?

1) How much will a car cost that can hold 6 people - we want it cheap as possible, so even if a little cramped that doesn't matter.
2) Is it much cheaper to rent it online ahead of time? If possible, I'd rather walk up to the desk and rent it.
3) Is it cheaper if it is rented under a 25 year old's name compared to a 22 year old?
4) Is insurance a good idea?
5) What else do I need to know about renting a car in California?

I must ask this in the Los Angeles area where poeple are more concerned:

I thought my city (Burbank,CA) was preserved from massive immigration (especially hispanic) but saturday i went Xmas shopping and could hear spanish in every corner of the mall, it is turning into Mexico as well. I saw a record low number of Anglo-European like me, maybe less than 1 in 5.

What must i do (other than moving, i am at home here)?

Hello, I am flying into LAX tomorrow from PDX to attend a concert at Staples. I have eight hours before and after the concert to find something to do with. I would like to see the walk of stars, and the "Hollywood" sign during the day, and maybe go check out a couple gay bars after the show.

What places do you recommend?

What places should I stay away from?

My schedule is:Dec. 5th Leave PDX 10:25am, arrive LAX 12:40pm.
Return trip home: Dec. 6th Leave LAX 8:20am, arrive PDX 10:25pm

I will be staying with a friend, but I have never been to LA before and this is my Christmas present to myself and I wanna have a great time! Most of the time I will be by myself.

When I get on from Wilmington how do I get to universal city. What do the rectangle white shapes mean? Do I get off at Pico? Does the train split at Wilshire/Vermont, if so, how?

I am hard-working, 13 years old girl in santa barbara.. I really want a job, because I want to help my parents with my outrageous spendings... Babysitting does not work! Because firstly, I babysit my cousins , and get no money! There is no chores needed to be done, no doing trash or w/e, and even if there was, i'd get no money anyways. Lemonade sale squashes! I bet a day's salary from the lemonade stand will be less than one of my shirts, so that's no help... And doing community work is free!

Hi Everyone,

I plan on going to Bear Mountain/Snow Summit in December with my friend. My mom is being a bit of a pain about the drive and I was wondering what State Route 18 was like from the Lucerne Valley? How serpentine is the drive? The mountain's website says it is the least weather affected and least mountain driving, but I want to hear it from you.

We have to drive, but the day and the time does not matter in the slightest, just that we have to do it in one day, arrange some stuff (which will probably take two or three hours) and come back. All this before December 11th. How should we plan the day? It's no problem for us to wake up early, we just want it over with - without too much traffic on the way. Thanks for helping out!
