If you are in L.A. the best things to do are eat and watch movies. The food in L.A. is probably the best in the country (I should know I have lived all over the U.S.) Avoid Indian food but otherwise mexican food is some of the best you will find stateside. El Coyote is pretty good but the best burritos are at Juquila on Santa Monica Blvd in west L.A. near the Nuart theater which shows good art flicks (I used to work there and would eat Juquila burritos regularly YUM!) for bars I recommend the lost and found, its the cheapest you will find in L.A. and to me is the perfect L.A. bar, its in a strip mall next to a Blockbuster video but the inside feels more like a midwest lounge. If you like the beach, I prefer Santa Monica to Venice, which is crowded and full of obnoxious people. Go Hiking either in the Santa Monica mountains or in Griffith park, the view from Griffith park is really amazing if you can see through the smog...Oh yeah In and Out burger is a quintessential american west coast experience which should not be missed!!!
----sorry I since realized that you meant what to do with your flight time. All the L.A. advice stands though. I find most international flights serve free alcohol and show stupid movies that will numb your brain if nothing else. otherwise a good book and some music are decent ways to pass the time.

That's a tough one Calvin, I can't seem to sleep on flights, so you will need lots of movies, I-Pod with the good Bose Head phones, interactive games and good company....and booze doesn't hurt, if it's not against your religion...Have a good Flight...

Just do what Dory said:
"Just keep swimming, swimming, swimming"
Or in your case, flying. Focus on the goal, not the flight. Find a happy place.
