Because most of the time the weather is absolutely beautiful, I hate the rain...be glad it doesn't rain EVERY day like it does in Houston, TX, the Santa Anna winds I actually like....as for the fires and mudslides...just about every part of this nation has some sort of disaster occur every year, whether it's natural or not...I've lived in California and in Texas....trust me, California is better than most places in the U.S.

ever heard of....you don't know what you've got 'til it's gone?

There's fires everywhere not just Malibu. The winds don't blow your house down and they don't happen all the time, but the mudslides do suck but not all the houses sit on top or directly at the bottom of the hills.

If you've spent any time there at all, you could see why people love it. Mountains on one side, ocean on the other, no smog, close to LA. You put up with the fires and the mudslides becuase it's paradise the other 363 days of the year.

But these things only happen 2 - 3 days out of the year, if at all. But, have you ever driven PCH at sunset, or taken a picnic to the Adamson House and Malibu State Park. It's beautiful. Every time I go there, I wonder if my husband and I made a mistake living inland.

Malibu is gorgeous and the people who are lucky enough to reside there know the challenges. It is one of the only places in Los Angeles where there is any acreage and wildlife and so close to the ocean. I would move there in a minute if I could afford it. However when we see the flames from our livingroom 25 miles away, I do see your point.

Too many tourists I would imagine as well.
But I'd be the first to say I'd rather be there than where I am right now. It's freezing and the wind is so strong, the pigeons are huddled up against my balcony door.

Did I mention the on-and-off blizzard?

ummmm, brunch Sunday mornings on the beach at Paradise Cove...besides the brush and stuff needs to be cleared out about every 5 years. Either we do it or Mother Nature will.....

I know there are those dangers, but have you ever seen the view? One of the best in all of California.

Because sometimes, it looks a lot better than Green Cove Springs does.

The beach. No matter where you choose to live, natural disasters somehow seem to follow.
