Hello, I am flying into LAX tomorrow from PDX to attend a concert at Staples. I have eight hours before and after the concert to find something to do with. I would like to see the walk of stars, and the "Hollywood" sign during the day, and maybe go check out a couple gay bars after the show.

What places do you recommend?

What places should I stay away from?

My schedule is:Dec. 5th Leave PDX 10:25am, arrive LAX 12:40pm.
Return trip home: Dec. 6th Leave LAX 8:20am, arrive PDX 10:25pm

I will be staying with a friend, but I have never been to LA before and this is my Christmas present to myself and I wanna have a great time! Most of the time I will be by myself.

All your anwsers are appriciated.

Tommy

You should definitely do all the tourist stuff, which is mostly all located in Hollywood, most things are close to the intersection of Hollywood and Highland.
And yes of course, you must see the Hollywood sign, which you can get that specific info pretty much anywhere in Hollywood.
If you get a chance, there's a place called Runyon Canyon, which is absolutely beautiful during the day, and if you hike up there a short distance, that's another place you can see the Hollywood sign, and it's a very overwhelming view. You can see the entire LA area, and if it's clear enough, the ocean is visible. Go to www.runyon-canyon.com. This is one place I would consider a must-see.
And as far as gay bars go? There are several located on Santa Monica Blvd, or very nearby... specifically close to the intersection of Santa Monica and Robertson, which I believe the city is considered West Hollywood.
Something else you might enjoy would be the Santa Monica Promenade. It's on 3rd Street in the city of Santa Monica, just a few blocks from the ocean. There are tons of shops and restaurants and little street shows, music, dancing, etc. And if you go there, you can also check out the Santa Monica Pier, which is like a year-round carnival on the ocean.
I hope this helps, and happy holidays!!! :-)

I work at LAX. You didn't mention if your friend is picking you up??? If he is then you will have a car to drive to Hollywood. If not, you can take the Metro Rail and it will drop you off at the Metro station that is next door to the Chinese Theater on the Walk of Fame. When you arrive at LAX you will be on the lower arrival level. All terminals have a Travelers Aid Booth. Go see them and they can give you a nice brochure on Hollywood. As for the other thing. sorry I am not gay and have no idea about gay bars.

I live in LA and everytime I get out of the house I see new and amazing things!
There's just so much to do! 8 hours will give you plenty of time to see a lot.

Okay, so if you go to Hollywood, I reccomend...

*The Wax Museum* [Doesn't cost more than twenty dollars to get in, I think! It's really cool there! You can go into the haunted section upstairs and SCREAM! it's scary.]

*Ripleys BELIEVE IT OR NOT Museum* [This place made me TRIP OUT. I couldn't believe half the stuff I saw. It's crazy here. There are some amazing things in there. Theres this one thing where you walk on this thing where it feels like you're moving, and theres stars and it looks like they're moving too, and it makes u so dizzy! It's really fun!

*Walk Around Hollywood* See the stars with the stars names!

*In Hollywood*
- definatly walk about and go shopping.
- eat out!

Sorry, I have to go! But email me if you need more help.

First of all, get to the airport at LEAST 3 hours ahead of time ***and check in***. Otherwise you may not get to go at all.
