In addition to the Universal Hilton and the Sheraton Universal, the Sportsman's Lodge in Studio City is an excellent choice.
Some people also like to stay in the Hollywood Blvd area, then just take the Red Line Subway to the Universal Station, just one stop away.
Another good, economical option is the Holiday Inn Express, which is across the freeway from Universal City on Cahuenga Blvd. Be sure to ask for a room on the side away from the freeway, or you may hear freeway noise all night. However, its clean and very close to Universal and the Hollywood sights.

"I want to know which will be the cheapest and neareat Hotel to stay" Nearest to what? You mentioned 3 pleaces, all at least 20-30 miles from each other. Since LA is so spread out, there is no single place that is close to EVERYTHING. Most people who come here tend to stay in Hollywood, Santa Monica, or Anaheim. In Hollywood, I recommend the Orchid Suites, Hollywood Celebrity Hotel, or Hollywood Heights (formerly Holiday Inn Walk of Fame), all near Hollywood and Highland. In Santa Monica, the Holiday Inn Santa Monica is close to the pier and reasonably priced. In Anaheim, I recommend the Howard Johnson (HoJo) Anaheim, and the Candy Cane Inn. There is also a nice place in Burbank called the Best Western Media Center, very close to Warner, NBC, and Universal Studios.

The only hotel next to Universal is the Hilton...The only other one is down the big hill...The Sheraton...
I like the Hilton because you can walk over to City Walk in the evenings and get smashed at CITY WALK and WALK home to the hotel across the street and get in the hot tub..no driving or waiting for suttles or subways...IMHO...This is not the Hilton-Woodland Hills advertsed as a sponsors link at the below right of this page,,,,but you can link from there...lol
