IT IS LEGAL TO DRIVE BAREFOOT IN CALIFORNIA.
The story that you can get a ticket for not wearing shoes while driving is an urban legend.
So yes it is ok. It might get a little chilly in the winter months, but there is nothing wrong with it.
(However you can be legally shot if caught on a motorcycle wearing a speedo)

Legal- yes
ok- not really. As a driver, you should be prepared for an emergency. That's why I would never drive barefoot. At least wear shoes so driving feels the same way you're used to.

Not really. You are legally required to wear shoes while driving. Stay in your car until you get there. No restaurant or store will serve you barefoot and shirtless. Have fun.
