I must ask this in the Los Angeles area where poeple are more concerned:

I thought my city (Burbank,CA) was preserved from massive immigration (especially hispanic) but saturday i went Xmas shopping and could hear spanish in every corner of the mall, it is turning into Mexico as well. I saw a record low number of Anglo-European like me, maybe less than 1 in 5.

What must i do (other than moving, i am at home here)?

I have posted a similar question on the IMMIGRATION FORUM where there's tons of poeple, but you can still answer here (i leave open for LA)

You can find the other question by using the search bar, type these words:

immigration city burbank

Renee you are probably one of these extreme-liberals, dare i say pro-illegal immigration
I'm open minded, I have even made many trips to Mexico and south america. I just object that these countries are coming here, I have the right to say if i don't feel home do i?
It's surreal to be treated 'racist' when i just want to defend my culkture, my heritage

Please check the immigration section, tons of people agree with me, too much immigration, too many illegals...

Right on! too many illegal immigrants and latinos in SoCal make Americans feel alien in their own country

I hear in the 50s (i was not born yet) America looked completely different
So much change in just 50 years, what about the next 50 to 100 years?

There's someone actually asking me to learn spanish, to change my langage at home!

FYI lots of Mexicans are actually far less tolerant to foreigners, if half of their population was from Indian or China they would not like it.

I consider myself as being pretty tolerant living (with difficulty) in LA

I will not enter in the discussion about native Americans. A bit sad sure. History is what it is. Now we are all triumphant about what America is today, its force, its ecomonic power, its top notch tech and research (and yes many high skill immigrants contributed). It's a great nation. Navajos are still strong in AZ.

Westguy I like your hispanic viewpoint. I hear many (most) Mexican Americans (who speak both, who played by the rukes) are actually AGAINST the 'illegal invasion'. Yes they give a bad image to ALL hispanics, causing an 'intra-latino backlash'

Though I feel you are being somewhat of a racist in your remarks, I.....a half hispanic...very much agree with you. It is an insult to my family who migrated here legaly that this coutnry has let millions of illegal immigrants into this country. They have supressed our wages, reduced our standard of living, DESTROYED L.A., and have taken billions from our social programs. As a hispanic citizen I am saddened that these illegal aliens have given all hispanics and latinos/as a bad name!

I honestly can't believe you are asking this question.
The only reason this would disturb you is if you were racist... And, well, you are racist. I'm a caucasian woman living in that same area, and I'm proud to say that I don't even notice that kind of stuff. Why? Because all people are HUMAN BEINGS, made just like you on the inside. In fact, YOU are the disgrace in that xmas shopping equation, not the 4 in 5 hispanics. You are what is wrong with this world. I feel sorry for you.
And you asked what to do? I suggest you move to midtown, Idaho, or somewhere like that.

And no, I'm definitely not what you describe as an "extreme-liberal" or "pro-illegal immigration". I believe that if they want to be in this country, they should be legal. That is the one thing we agree on. But that's beside the point, when the huge majority of the people who you are xmas shopping amongst are all very much legal, and most of them were probably born in America. You never mentioned in your initial question about being concerned about their legal status. Your sole concern was being a minority among 80% of hispanics while shopping. If you were truly focusing on your Anglo-European culture, your question would never have been offensive. If you were merely trying to figure out where all "your people" are, then you would have never focused on hispanics.
Again, if you don't feel "at home", then move.

So, you think this is YOUR country and you want to protect YOUR culture in Burbank. Have you thought about how the Native American feel about THEIR country and THEIR culture? Not to the mention THEIR land that's been taken over by YOUR people. I am not Native American, but I think you're very ignorant about who this land, country, and culture really belongs to. Technically, YOUR people should stay in Europe but you've taken this land by force. The Hispanic immigrants came here in peace and just want to make a living and fit in. The immigrants are even willing to earn lower wages for the same job YOUR people is doing for more money. Why? Because they don't think that just because of their skin color that they deserve higher pay than everybody else like YOUR people do. And YOUR people complain about outsourcing. Why is the rest of the world willing to work for less but you deserve to be paid more? Think about it.

This country, from the beginning was a melting pot of different cultures. They just happen to be all from Europe (England, Spain, Germany, etc.). Would you be "worried" if there's a sudden increase in immigration from the UK? When The Beckhams came to LA, did you think "another damn immigrant"? Or are only the non-European immigrants you are concerned about?

I think you are racist.

Yes yes. You can't say anything anymore without people jumping down your throat and calling you a racist. Burbank has a huge influx of hispanics now, and yeah, it does bother me when everyone is speaking in another language. Honestly, I don't care what your race is, but there is something comforting and familiar when everyone around you speaks English. It's like, no matter what your color is, you're all on the same team!
I'm white, and the whole hispanic thing doesn't bother me, but just the amount of people!! We are just filling to the brim with people. Everyone wants to talk about race, but what about space? I heard one economist say "There are 6 billion people on the planet, and 5 billion of them would like to live in L.A." So true!

It is true too many illegal immigrants in Southern California, make America feel alien themselves in their country.

One reason American need cheap labors, too many cheap labors make southern california very affortable to live( except house), but too crowded.

Another reason California is too liberal to learn AZ, phoenix has its own toughest law and prisons to make illegal immigrants very difficult to stay there.

What must you do? I suggest that you pick your own food and work in the fields for awhile.

Did someone assault you? Treat you rudely? Rob you? Or were they just like you shopping for Christmas just like any other human being. People are human no matter if they speak English, German, French, Spanish, Greek etc......

If you enjoy your area and are happy why should you move just because you "heard spanish"---- Get a Grip........................
