1) How much will a car cost that can hold 6 people - we want it cheap as possible, so even if a little cramped that doesn't matter.
2) Is it much cheaper to rent it online ahead of time? If possible, I'd rather walk up to the desk and rent it.
3) Is it cheaper if it is rented under a 25 year old's name compared to a 22 year old?
4) Is insurance a good idea?
5) What else do I need to know about renting a car in California?

THANKS!

You're looking at around $300 for the week. You can rent online at: spincitytravel.com. There you can compare prices from all the rental companies. Many companies will take your online order and give you further discounts when you get there. Check with AAA or Entertainment for discount coupons.

You must be at least 25 with valid credit card to rent or drive a rental car

Insurance is usually covered by your own policy. The only advantage to buying the companies insurance is that if you are in an accident you just turn the car in no questions asked. You will have to fill out paperwork and contact your own insurance if you don't buy from rental co.

Eh, if you're all willing to squeeze in, you can totally fit 6 people into a big ol' Whitey-Mobile, like a Crown Victoria or something. It'll be tight, but you can do it.

If you're using a credit card to rent it, you probably have insurance already (but check with your credit card company first!), so the car rental company insurance is likely to be a waste of 8 bucks a day. I know this for a fact, having had to get a rental car for a few days, and some dumb person scraped his/her car against the side of my rental while I was parked in a parking lot. My credit card rental insurance took care of everything.

Mostly, renting a car in California is almost exactly the same as renting a car anywhere else. We're not THAT wacky around here.

Not sure of the price but I booked mine on http://www.ytbtravel.com/getthereandrelax and it was easy and a great price. And yes you do need the insurance people here do not know how to drive also must be 25 with a credit card not a debit card in most places.

1, you need a van or SUV for 6, daily rental $40 plus tax, fees. Weekend is much cheaper.
2. 3 days advance is enough, walk in is OK, they may give you van for compact car rate
3. it is expensive for those under 25
4. you better have SLI and LDW
5. don' overspeed, be yield pedestrian.

Th greater advantageous coverage will conceal the motor vehicle jointly as youchronic it; in the experience that your pal has an "uh oh", he/she would be able to no longer be lined and you'd be to blame for damages, injuries and the different liabilities. i would not propose renting a motor vehicle and letting a "pal:" power it; there are only too many issues in contact with legality subject concerns. Sorry! good luck!
