I'm jumping at the first chance to leave freakin' Kentucky and come to a great state, Texas! (Excuse me, a great Republic!) I know some of you might call me a "yankee," but I'm willing to put up with that.

I've only been to Texas once. I fell SO in love with your state and its geographic diversity, warm people, beautiful parks, and thriving cities that I said, "I could live here." I even have a "Misplaced Texan" bumper sticker on my car; now some of you think I'm crazy, don't you?

What steps do I need to take to properly become a "naturalized" Texan? Thanks!

Hi, my friend lives in Gilmer, Texas and I can't get ahold of her. I have called and there is no service. I have E-mailed and no response. I was wondering, is the weather bad where she is? I know about flooding, I'm not familier with her location.

I need help finding a bus that goes from Houston to Texarkana, Texas. I live in Michigan, so it'll be a little while before I go on my trip (December), but online I haven't really been able to look anything up.

Can anyone give me any details on a bus that would take me to Houston to Texarkana (hopefully affordably)?

im really only worried about the 3-7 day holding period policy that most shelters have...... then they put all lost pets to sleep
if a person has him in his back yard then im not too worried, ill just put up lots of signs in the neighborhood and hope some one with a heat brings him back
so im asking for a FULL list of shelters in houston

I recently moved for my job, and I don't know anybody past my boss. I am 18 and live alone. I'm not a clubber, so dont suggest it. Preferrebly not in downtown because I'm nowhere close to that but if thats all you got go ahead and suggest it. Thanks!

I've decided to leave my home of Kentucky for the state of TEXAS (or, should I say, the Republic of Texas.) I love what I've seen: clean roadsides--TX is the cleanest state I've ever been to. It's also the friendliest, most polite state I've ever been to. I love the cities and small towns alike, live music and beautiful parks, great meat, infuse of Mexican culture, beaches, prairies, and (for the most part) weather.

I also know to never incite a debate about UT/A&M football, ever, if I value my life. (Luckily, I haven't done that that.)

All answers welcomed. If you've also lived in or visited Kentucky, you're welcome to compare the two states. God Bless Texas!

My wife and I are 25/26 years old and getting ready to move to Houston. All of our friends live in Midtown, but all of the apartments there seem small and expensive. Where else do young professionals live inside the loop? What are the other areas like?

A few friends and I are planning a trip in October to Houston, but I'm concerned about booking a stay in a hotel. The group we're planning consists of 3 seventeen year olds and 1 eighteen year old... Are there any hotels that will permit an eighteen year old to book a stay and check-in?

Thanks for any input.

my boyfriend and i just graduated from college and we know that staying here in the san francisco bay area is not a smart idea. the cost of living is just way too high. so we planned on moving to houston in 4 months. he's really excited about it..but since i was born and raised here in san francisco, i dont know what else to expect. to be honest, im kind of scared. but i know this is a smart move for us. we're planning a trip next month to visit Sugar Land ( i think that is where we will pruchase our house)... but being in the houston area for only 2 days will not do any good for me as far as what to expect. i know there is going to be a few different things here and there... i'm just scared of leaving... and not knwoing what to expect. can someone share with me their likes and dislikes about the houston area... thanks in advance! :)
