im really only worried about the 3-7 day holding period policy that most shelters have...... then they put all lost pets to sleep
if a person has him in his back yard then im not too worried, ill just put up lots of signs in the neighborhood and hope some one with a heat brings him back
so im asking for a FULL list of shelters in houston

What side of town do you live on? Most shelters don't just drive around looking for stray dogs, they have to be called either by the owner or by someone who sees a dog walking around (which is rare unless the dog is injured). Using that list the other user posted, start with Harris County Animal Control, most people call them first. If you live in a better part of town, call the SPCA.

Also, a good idea would be to get your pet microchipped if you find it. This way, if he ends up in a shelter, you'll be reunited. Good luck!

Put an add in the paper too. Also does your dog have one of those microchips in it so they can be tracked if lost or stolen. If so call the police and tell them about it. Be sure to give a picture and good description to the pounds and shelters and even vets in the area incase someone brings the puppy in.

Best of luck to you :)

Call the SPCA and ask them if they can give you a FULL list of Houston Shelters. Make sure the SPCA has all of your contact info and descript of your pet, if he/she shows up at the shelter. I hope he has a microchip so he can be returned to you soon as possible.

If you have photos of your dog, please post them EVERYWHERE!

I don't know if PetSmart and PetCo will let you post flyers in front of their store, or, inside the store, ask them if you can do so. Color photos if you have them.

My heart goes out to you, I hope the l'il sweetie finds his way home. Many dogs find their way back home.

A Houstonian, in NYC.
Good Luck

Gypsydayne sumed it up pretty well, but also try C.A.P.S. Citizens for Animal Protection, they are located on I-10 near Kirkwood. Try them too.

hope you find him.
