There are not many companies that will hire you on at age 16.
So make up a colorful flyer and deliver it to all the neighbors in your neighborhood. Remember not to put it in the mailbox. Put it near their front door. Have your parents approve the things you have listed on the flyer before you hand them out. (You can also deliver the flyers personally and speak to each neighbor about your services. This obviously will get you a higher response rate.)
Sample Flyer:
Neighborhood Kid Offers Their Services for the following types of work:
Light Housekeeping: Wash dishes, vacuum, dust. $20
Scrub bathtub or shower. $5
Paint fences. $5/per yard (3 feet)
Wash, dry and wax car, $10
Walk dog, $5/Day
Water garden while on vacation . $3/Day
Babysitting. $5/child/per hour
Mow lawn. $15/regular size lawn (Always wear eye goggles)
Weeding/planting flowers or shrubs. $5/Hr.
YOUR NAME
YOUR PHONE #
ETC....
By keeping the prices affordable, people will actually be able to afford to hire you.
Always, always let your parents know what job you are doing for the day and where you'll be. Don't accept last minute jobs without the authorization of your parents. If you have a funny feeling about something or see something unusual in someone's home---leave! If someone asks you to do some type of work that is not on the list your parents have approved for safety reasons, then always check and clear it with your parents first. Have fun and stay safe.
