If you can make your way through kemah boardwalk it has a bunch of shops and restaurants and some rides. Galveston is always a great place to go. There they have Schlitterbaun and moody gardens. Where in HOuston are you staying? There is the zoo, the museum, the planeterium and all that normal stuff. Also there is a waterpark pretty close to Houston it is called Splashtown. It's not the biggest waterpark but great for small kids. My husband and I really enjoy it also. This is next to old town spring. Which has a bunch of shops and cool restaurants. You can take your children on a ghost tour at night at old town spring. Call ahead for a tour. If you get hungry go to puffabellys where you throw your peanut shells all over the floor. Oh and if your in spring you must go to Potatoe Patch where they serve you all the muffins, fried tomatoes, rolls, and okra that you desire. Practice catching because they throw the rolls at you. Email me if you have any more questions and I will give you my cell phone if you need any directions. My email is michellekmartin@yahoo.com Let me know what you want to do and I will get phone numbers and all if you want.

Houston could be very sizzling and humid. Traffic is incredibly horrible throughout industry hours. There is a prime crime price in Houston. Houston is half-hour from the seaside and from plenty of suburbs and gulf cities with much less site visitors and not more crime. The Houston field is a nice situation to get your foot within the door within the oilfield enterprise.

option #1:
Do the Zoo and the Childrens Museum, the Houston Museum of Natural Science, all closely situated near downtown.

Option #2
Do the Kemah Boardwalk - music, hotel, shopping, boats, food, lots more.

Option #3
Go to Galveston - Schlitterbahn Water Park, Moody Gardens, lots of fun.

Others have good answers. NASA and the Zoo are great spots. The planetarium is in the same area. If you are more northwest of the city, the OIL ranch is a good place. It is way out 290 and has horses and cows.

I agree with the answer from Undead Monkey... the Natural History museum is really nice, interactive and fun for all ages and your little ones will LOVE the butterfly area (you can purchase a butterfly and they can let them go inside the butterfly exhibit)... have fun!

Save yourselves a lot of money. Don't take them. Get a babysiter or leave them with a relative. You need time away from your children now and then.
