Iam flying from Dallas to Houston,to find a beach!for a few days.I believe Galveston is the nearest coast,can you confirm & let me know the distance

it takes less than an hour to drive there down 45 south. The beach isn't the prettiest due to the mud flowing out of the Mississippi. But the little city is kinda cool. It's about forty or fifty miles.

The above answers are correct. Except for today. The Gulf Freeway, 45 south, was closed in 2 places. One for construction and one for downed power lines. You could have easily spent 4 or 5 hours driving there today.
One hour normal drive is correct.

trust me, galveston isnt far at all. its usually a 1 hour drive (depending on traffic)
