I need a passport within the next month or month and a half because I am traveling out of the country. Does anyone know where I can get good rates on passports?

Go to the Bellaire post office. They take walk-ins. Be prepared to wait a few hours. Don't go on Friday. Most other post offices require appointments, and are rarely next day.

There is not any cheap place, and in fact you'll pay more because you need this quicker. A passport takes about six weeks to process (depending on time of year; sometimes more). You pay an extra $60 for expedited service and get it in two weeks (about $125 total).

Here's where to get the form if you've never had one:

Take your form and two passport photos. Kinkos does them. Costco does them. Less than ten bucks.

The rates on obtaining U.S. passports are fixed or set rates. No bargain deals here. Go immediately to the nearest U. S. Post Office that accepts passport applications. You can download a free application on line at:
travel.state.gov/passport/passport
Do it ASAP as you need to be able to get the passport before you travel.

Maybe what you remember is seeing all the advertisements for cheap passport photos and, yes, you can get a bargain on these.

If you have to put a rush on the processing of the application, there is an additional fee plus the cost of FEDX or similar services.
Best of everything to you and have a great time on your trip!

Yes...the post office.

You can't get a "cheap" passport as the only place you can get one is from the US government. If you are leaving that soon, you might be screwed. Even an expedited passport takes about a month to get. You better get to the post office and like yesterday.

I have a feeling you might not be headed out of the country after all...

There is only one place you can get a passport and that is from the US Department of State. Any post office will help process the application.

Passports fees are set by the federal government. I don't think you would find one discounted!

Go to the post office and pay for the expedited service. Or you can go downtown and wait all day
