I need help finding a bus that goes from Houston to Texarkana, Texas. I live in Michigan, so it'll be a little while before I go on my trip (December), but online I haven't really been able to look anything up.

Can anyone give me any details on a bus that would take me to Houston to Texarkana (hopefully affordably)?

Ah, I forgot. If at all possible, since I don't know the area very well, if there's a city very close to Texarkana a bus goes to, I'd be interested in knowing that, as well. I'd also need information on cabs if that can be found.

While I'm at it, since I don't know the local area, please don't say "call it so-and-so up" or "go to their site" as I'd have no idea about it.

Also, Greyhound doesn't seem to go to Texarkana.

Thank you for the help.

I probably should have attempted looking it up or asking, but it's a surprise visit for my best friend who just moved there. I'm going to Houston because my Aunt lives there and being under twenty-five, I can't rent a car, so bus is about the only way to go....

Greyhound does travel between Houston and Texarkana. With a 14 day advance purchase the fare is on $46.

Texarka is really two cities because it straddles the state line. Greyhound goes to Texarkana, Arkansas.

If the reason you are going to Texarkana is to get on Amtrak to go to Chicago then you should consider going from Houston to Longview Texas where you can pick up the same Amtrak train to Chicago. Its a shorter trip on the bus and a cheaper one too.

P.S. Wave to me as you go by Tyler, Texas.

Check Trailways Transportation System on the web or in the phone book. You would have to take the bus from Houston to Dallas (200 miles), then transfer to another bus going to Texarkana (approx. 180 miles). Texarkana is not a really big city, but big enough that you'd be able to get cab service to outlying areas.

Greyhound goes to Texarcana, it will say Arkansas because Texarcana is located on the border of both states. The ticket seems to cost around $72.00. Hope this helps
