My family will be visiting Houston to attend a wedding and will have a free day to explore the city. We are staying in Uptown Houston/Galleria area so we already know about the Galleria mall, we will most likely spend the most time there. However, what else is there to do in Houston thats family-friendly? Any recommendations? Thanks in advance.

Cheaper to buy a house, better transportation and more to do in Houston. Any pen pal friend from Houston can share their view about Houston? it can be positive or negative dose not matter I am very interested of Houston thank you very Much I look forward hearing from you soon. Well, my family will be going to Houston tomorrow and we don't know what to do there. What are some fun places? They have to be cheap and affordable, but totally fun!I wouldn't mind in Galveston, like Kemah...but what are other things?

My husband and I are thinking of relocating and would like to know some good areas that are relatively cheap but good to raise a child in and also a nice looking community. Thanks!!

Do you like the hot and humid weather in Texas? Is it tolerable? I was really thinking of going there due to the affordable houses, but worried about the hot weather…I live in Hawaii.

Sorry, no offense intended to you Houston folks, it's just that I may be moving there next year, which makes me curious...

I heard that Houston has a lot of great restaurants, so I suppose this may be one of the reasons, but what else?

okay i honestly need opinions about safe places in houston..i've found quite a few apartments and i like to check out what people think about them on apartmentratings.com .. and i know every place is going to have its pros/cons, but most of the places i see are completely horrid saying cars getting broken into, property stolen, drug dealers, rude management, horrible parking..etc....i can handle rude management etc..but i don't want my car to get broken into and i don't want to get robbed...i want to move to the galleria or the west/westchase area..does anyone recommend somewhere that's pretty safe?? or just an apartment thats pretty nice? and nothing that's too expensive ... thanks!

also, any entry level computer job recommendations?
or decent full time job making minimum $8/hr ?

thanks ppl

There will be no one under the age of 40 and over the age of 50. Interests are cultural activities, stage shows, good restaurants, things unique to Houston or its surronding cities.

I'm from Massachusetts, so I'm used to going to my supermarket and buying oranges, grapes and strawberries that are stale and disgusting.

But I would imagine, being so close to Mexico, you Houston folks must have a wide array of fresh fruits and veggies at your supermarkets...true or false?

I may be moving there next winter so I'm curious for some opinions...

For the past few days now trains traveling through downtown (where I live) have been waking me up at 3 & 4 in the morning. I don't even live that close to the train tracks, but they honk those things so loud that you can hear them for miles. What possible purpose could there be to these train conductors doing that at these ungodly hours? It makes me so mad!! I swear some of those guys must do it just to piss people off. I could see them giving the horn a few good toots once in a while, but it seems like they lay on them for about 10 minutes straight, at the loudest volume setting, with maybe a 4 second interval. It's insane!!!

I'm an Indonesian guy thinking of opening a private plastic surgery practice after med school and residency. Because I heard that Houston has one of the best plastic surgery markets. So is Houston a good city for asians? Becuase I live in a suburb of Los Angeles where it's 55%+ asian.
