Actually, the Houston weather is very nice, although humid, 9 months out of the year. The months of June through August are very hot, but everything, but everything is air conditioned here. The hunidity helps your skin, jobs abound here, inexpensive housing, and lot's of things to do. Come on down!

The climate isn't that much different. We're a bit warmer, but if you live near Honolulu this humidity is nothing new.
I've lived here 30 years now (with a few brief experiences elsewhere). I have the chance to move just about anywhere, but I like it here. If it gets too humid, I turn on the A/C. You're really never farther than from your air conditioned car to an air conditioned building.
By the way, for the poster above, WHO IN THEIR RIGHT MIND WOULD LIVE IN INDIANAPOLIS? Gaa, what a slum.
EDIT: YeahYeahYeah is full of it. Houston has NEVER been that warm for that period of time. Not even close.

It's actually less hot in Houston than further inland -- the Gulf provides some moderation of temperatures. Further inland, say, Dallas/Fort Worth, it gets hotter and drier, and colder in the winters. However, it still gets plenty hot here, and the downside to the proximity to the Gulf is humidity, which makes it feel hotter than it is. I do love my air conditioners!
People lived here before air conditioning, and lots of folks play and work outside, so obviously it's tolerable in general. We do also have milder winters; the last time it snowed and stuck at all was 1989, and I've worn shorts out at various times in December. And heavy coat other times. We do also have lovely spring and fall -- though shorter than many --
I like Houston. The weather isn't bad; we generally get to see our natural disasters coming several days in advance so can flee or otherwise prepare; it's a big sprawling city so has lots of options for anything you might want to buy or see or do or where to live. I'll take the humid summers, for not having to worry about snow chains or shovelling sidewalks or earthquakes.

I have lived in TX all my life and I have visited the Big Island about every 2 years for about the last 6 years. We have friends who live outside of Hilo. I have to admit the heat and humidity does not bother me. The month of August is the most humidity so you just don't do too many outdoor activities in that month.

I don't live there, but I went to Dallas once in the winter and it was bitter cold with lots of icy wind.
I've been to Hawaii and the temp is very consistent there. You go to anywhere on the mainland of the US and you'll be dealing with seasonal changes. Not as cold in southern parts of Texas, but you'd be mistaken if you think that the whole state is hot and humid all year round. After all, Texas is a very large state.

Well
Personally I dont like the heat here
Im more of a person who likes to be cold.
They have nice areas here, and during fall and winter
and spring, the weather is really nice. But in the summer
so many bugs and the heat kills me.
It is tolerable, but just have an air conditioner. [:

Texas is huge. The coast is humid. The west part is bone dry. You get used to the humidity. The fact that every building has AC helps.
I hope you enjoy it in Texas. I love it.

ive been in houston most all my life and have traveled all over and i can say this. houston has got to be the hottest, most humid place on earth. it is ridiculously hot here for the better part of the year. the only time it is truly cold, dare i say "cold" in fear of northerners, is late december through late february. this year we had a weird weather phenomenon like the rest of the country. we were wearing jackets in april. so unheard of. most winters i dont even buy a heavy coat. you will need one but just not a lot. if you can get used to the summer heat and crime, you can survive houston. welcome to our town
