I can't even believe the negativity from those people while talking about Houston. there is lots to do as a family. First, the cockrell museum is a live biodome that you can go in to. In that same building is the IMAX. Musuem, and next to that is the children's musuem. Across the street is the hermann park which is next to the houston zoo. It is a lot of fun. Parking is free at the zoo. you can also take that train ride and it will tell you a little about the history of the park and surounding places. There is also a golf course right there too.
The person above is correct, Astroworld is not there but there is a splash town in old town spring. Lots of festivals and art shows and just different events every weekend.
the people above me must not get out much around here and really experience what houston has to offer.
I am out experiencing it weekly.
and I lived in Kemah. of course, that is fun!
moody gardens is as well.
hope this helps you
enjoy your stay

The Houston Main Public Library is pretty nice. You can spend hours there. Also if you go to City Hall Cafeteria which is walking distance from the library you can enjoy some decent food for an affordable price.
Try Black-eyed pea restaurant. I love the huge portions of chicken fried steak.
Also if you go to Galveston, be sure to enjoy the fried soft shell crab... delicious.
You can get great bargains at some of the large indoor flea markets in houston.
Dont forget to visit some of the nice universities around like University of Houston and Rice University.
Also, if you go to Galveston, I think you can go crabbing. That's always fun.
Don't forget to visit some of the nice museums - Houston Museum of Natural Sciences.

The Woodlands is a nice place to live. 20 north of Downtown Houston. The Woodlands has great schools, river walk atmosphere (similar to San Antonio), miles of walking/running trails, tons of restaurants, clubs, theaters and shopping. People in The Woodlands wear normal clothes. Anything from mall shopping to high end couture. Won't see wranglers and cowboys here unless they are visiting.

there are a lot of negative posts here about Houston, trying to compare it to Austin or San Antonio is like comparing a jeep to a Ferrari. They are completely different types of cities. Granted, it isn't a tourist destination like San Antonio, but if you're here there is plenty to do.
Houston is a thriving, growing city and is a great place to earn a living.

The Galleria is nice even if you just window shop. The Menil Museum is free and has all kinds of cool art of all kinds. Just "yahoo" "Menil Museum" There is also a museum district in Houston. The Rice Village near Rice University has a lot of nice cafes and bakeries which are not too expensive (bc they cater to college kids).

If you are planning to start on your woodworking project, this isn't something you should use, it's something that you would be insane not to. Go here https://tr.im/WoodworkingPlansAndTechniques
Truth is, I've been a carpenter for almost 36 years, and I haven't found anything like this for less than 10's of thousands of dollars.

The easiest way to learn golf like a pro is by following "The Simple Golf Swing" program. It's primarily a 31 page eBook that teaches golfers how to make solid contact with the ball, how to avoid hitting fat, how to avoid slicing, how get more power, accuracy, and consistency in your swing. Consistency being the number 1 golf skill.
You not only get the eBook though, you also receive a ton of extra material including video, lessons on putting, driving, chipping, sand play etc. Here is their official site: http://www.golfswingguru.net

You are probably tired of looking through stacks and stacks of projects on woodworking in magazines and books of all kinds for some instructions on how to do a certain project. Here is a site which offers 16000 plans https://tr.im/WoodworkingTechniques
How would you like to have woodworking plans (actually thousands of them) available to you anytime you wanted them. It would be so easy when you do not have to paw through all kinds of old magazines but have it right there at your fingertips.

For fun in Houston, I usually resort to the mall (and that gets boring), the movies, or the museums if I'm able to get out there. Houston doesn't have that much to do. Been living here all my life, and it's a relatively boring city. Can't wait to get out for college.
Oh, and Kemah gets old really quick. Went the first time when I was 14 or 15, thought it was pretty cool. Went again a month ago, and was so bored with everything. It's more of a family place than anything (and by family, I mean there needs to be an abundance of little kids to make the trip worth while).
