The Bridge is a battered women's' and children's shelter in Pasadena that takes in abused women and children. They always need donated items and they help train women to find jobs to support themselves. Sometimes, if they already have a tremendous amount amount of gently worn clothing and shoes that have come in, it might go to their Surplus Store where women looking for a job can purchase a nice suit, shoes and blouse for a few dollars, but I think that they have to prove that they are staying at the shelter to receive surplus items for free. They also need children's' clothes, shoes, working but older computers, unopened toiletries, clean bedding items such as sheets, pillows and blankets, sewing machines and gently used children's' toys. And they also really appreciate clean, gently used furniture. Their number is (713) 473-2801 in Pasadena, Texas. There are also other many other charitable organizations that depend on donations such as Neighborhood Centers, (713) 944-9186; Depelchin Children's Center (an adoption agency) (281) 730-2335; St. Vincent DePaul Society at 827 Sheldon Road, located in Channelview, (281) 457-2245; and Domestic Relief Services at (713) 644-6850. I am sure there are many places that would love to receive your donated items. These are just a few ideas for you, but if none of these organizations I have listed here appeal to you, try searching through your local phone directory under Social Services and Welfare Organizations. I'm sure you could find more ideas and listings in there. Best of luck on your move and bless you for wanting to help people in need. You obviously have a good heart!!

Ok, first you should know it's good you're concerned about this. If you have a Women's Center by you, they will give any nice clothes you have to homeless women or poor women so they can go to job interviews for free. Also, the American Red Cross foundation takes items. And homeless shelters or churches take things as well. Hope I help. If you have any questions, please ask. Good luck and God bless. Have a nice day, bye. :)

The Salvation Army does sell some of it donations, but they use the money to help people.

There is nothing wrong with donating to places that re-sell. You don't have to go through the hassle of selling, and you can also get a tax write-off. My church is a member of a group of ministries that both donates and re-sells goods. The poor get clothing, supplies, and even food through them.

Small churches that help the poor, women's shelters, homeless shelters are all good places. Remember, your blessing from God comes from you trying to hellp others, if something gets waylaid and sold it's not your fault as you simply did the best you could.

Depends what type of things they are you may be able to give them to the red cross and they will be taken to Africa where things are really needed.

Take them to a homeless shelter around your area. Or churches that help the homeless.
