I've never heard of "blood bath" but it's been called "the bloody nickel" nickel being slang for 5 and "the bloody fifth". It's one of the most dangerous neighborhoods with a long history of violence, even back in the days of George.

"5th Ward is the lowest-income neighborhood in the South’s largest city. Settled and developed in the 1860’s, the neighborhood experienced decline and disinvestments from 1965-1990 and came to be described by Texas Monthly as “Texas’ toughest, proudest, baddest ghetto.” "

Fifth Ward is notorious for it's level of violence....hence the title 'blood bath'. It's been that way as long as I can remember.
