There are some nice apartments there. The Reserve you should check out. It may be Gessner, which is very close. Be aware that in that area, it is not the safest.

And Philippine St? Good as any in the `hood, though I'd rather live someplace other than Houston. I live about 90 miles north near Texas A&M University and love it here.
