Also, how long is the drive into the city? I-10 construction?

First question is what are your needs. You can get homes in Cinco Ranch, Falcon Ranch, Kelliwood, Green Trails, etc...

We are Realtors and usually tell our clients in this price range to go to Katy south of I-10 (it is a better investment at this price point).

you can check out listings and area info on our www.katyhomefinder.com website.

you can contact us from the website if you have any questions.

Best regards, Jeff and Mona

Um, try entering zip codes 77449, 77450, 77493, and 77494 for Katy. The other zip codes listed above are for Houston.

Go to http://www.har.com and plug in those zip codes, select single family residences, and use $170k as your maximum home price. HAR is the Houston Association of Realtors.

The drive in depends on time of day. I'd say the drive downtown from Katy would be about an hour. Your big bottleneck is the Katy Freeway inbetween Highway 6 and Loop 610. Then it is smooth sailing until you hit the I-45 exit.

I-10 construction is due for completion in December 2008. It has been going on since 2004. We're almost through it.

The following quotations are from a book called Disorder in the American Courts by Charles M. Under the Google search engine, enter the zip codes 77070 and 77064 and when the city comes up, enter housing and the dollar amt you're looking to pay for your home.
Happy hunting!

p.s. Katy Mills mall is one of the biggest and best shopping experiences I've ever had. **smiles**
