There will be no one under the age of 40 and over the age of 50. Interests are cultural activities, stage shows, good restaurants, things unique to Houston or its surronding cities.

Here's a tiny list of where to start. Consider the activities that you find interesting and then build your activities around them.

Be sure to visit NASA (call to see where they are offering money off coupons) they have new activities every season, the Houston Zoo, all of the museums in the Museum District around 14 of them. Both Nasa and the Museum District are all day excursions. Eat at Auntie Pasta in the Museam District. Visit Galveston. Once there go to the Strand, the Bishop's Place, Sea Wolf Park on Pelican Island, take the ferry over to the Bolivar Peninsular and go to Crystal Beach about 1/2 mile down on the right. Go to Schlitterbahn, a huge water park in Galveston, visit the museums there. Get on line before the dates of your vacation to see what else you would like to do here. There is sooooooo much to do in Houston. Try these sites:
NASA http://www.spacecenter.org/
City Vistor Site
http://www.visithoustontexas.com/visitor...
(There is a section with 34 things to do that cost $2 or less each---a great value for a family, a group, or people on a buget).
Visit the Kemah Boardwalk---lots of fun here. Rides, attractions, shops, many restaurants and bars and, of course, the boardwalk where you can watch all the boating activity. It's very close to NASA.

The Houston Chronicle Newspaper Website
http://www.chron.com/
Check this website on Thursdays (under Entertainment) to see what is up and coming for the weekend.
Also, for a more liberal entertainment newspaper (but it has good restaurant reviews) see,

For the water park:

Also, try:

and, for coupons and hotel packages, try:

Also, don't miss a visit to the largest church in the United States:

People from all denominations enjoy this church. Services on Wednesdays, Saturdays, and Sundays!

God bless you and have a wonderful time in our great city!

Google Houston,TX. nite life, restaurants, museums etc. It's all there.
International restaurants. Lots of nite life. Museums.
Best Italian, Antica (something), on Bissonnet between Shepherd and Kirby. Pricy but excellent.
I suppose you'll want to see the Galleria. Take at least a day. Hold on to your cash and cards. Lot's to buy.
Galveston Island is 50 miles South I45. About an hour, longer on weekends or during rush hour.
If you plan to stay overnite in Galveston, Fri., Sat, Sun., make reservations ahead. They book solid on weekends. On Fri., two nights are required, with a few exceptions. Super 8 and a few others. Several great seafood restaurants on Harbour Side, where ships arrive. Seawall is where all the action is. Beaches, restaurants. Good reasonable steak, Saltgrass, BEST, San Luis Resort..pricey. Dancing in the bar, Wed.-Sat. 7:30-12:00. Good pianist.
Excellent, expensive, Moody Gardens, Shearns. Great view. $$$$$. Excellent menu. Weekends need reservations. Best anytime. You'll like Moody Gardens for entertainment.
MAX theatre. 40' X 80' screen, in 3D

There is a restaurant under an Aquarium near Texas City. You may find it under Galveston, the "Aquarium". Sorry the location escapes me.

Bring along loads of patience for our traffic.

Go check out the Johnson Space Center. There's the touristy part of it (Space Center Houston), but they also have tours of the actual NASA facilities, with lots of neat stuff.

There is also the San Jacinto Monument-- the site of the battle of San Jacinto that gave Texas its independence from Mexico. It looks like the Washington Monument (sort of), but it is actually taller slightly. You can go up and see the surrounding area. In the same park they also have an old World War II era battleship (the Texas) that you can go tour.

For concerts and what not, check out the Houston Symphony, or the Cynthia Woods Mitchell Pavillion, or Jones Hall downtown. They usually have good stuff most of the time.

There also is lots of interesting things to do down in Galveston (it's about an hour south of Houston on Interstate 45), if you can swing that. Lots of arts stuff, and of course the beach.

Enjoy Houston!

Cheers!

If its not too far to go to the Woodlands, you should go to the Market Square. Galveston, Nasa, lots to do in the downtown region. Also, there are so many sports, I would maybe catch a game. You can buy ahead through Ticketmaster. If you are coming in Oct/Nov, the Renaissance is fun. Sam Houston racetrack puts on concerts. Enjoy your trip!

Welcome to Houston. Lots to do.

Shopping: Galleria is the main mall, at Westheimer at 610 West. Also lots of other good shopping malls, as well as a couple of outlet mall (Conroe and Santa Fe). If you want boutique stores, you can try Westheimer near downtown - lots of arty little shops, as well as Galveston on the Strand.

Cultural: Houston has one of the best opera company in town (but sadly will not be playing in this two months). However, ballet company has a few performances, and they are pretty good as well. They will be showing at Wortham Theater in downtown theater district. Also there has Hobby Center and Alley Theater - two very good theater featuring broadway style shows. There is orchestra in Jones Hall almost all year long. If you want, there is nice venue at Woodland's Cynthia Woods Pavilion, with rock as well as other types of concerts. Get your free copy of Houston Press at many street corner for more info.

Dining: There is a reason why Houston was the fattest city in US for 2 years. We got great food, and you will enjoy. Try Tex-Mex - most authentic in Houston. Try chained restaurant like Pappasito's or Ninfas, or you can venture into smaller mom-and-pop (or mama-y-papa) Mexican places. Great steakhouse (Pappas, Vic and Anthony), great Italians (Bice, Acadoros), lots of Chinese and Japanese and some Korean and Indian. Enjoy your dining experience here.

Touristy attraction: Johnson Space Center is the top tourist destination, a short 40 minutes drive down I-45 south. Nearby is the Kemah Boardwalk, great place for dining as well as shoreside walking. Also nearby is our own beach, Galveston island, lots of shopping and good seafood, and the OK beach. Also you can go to Clear Lake for water sports, San Jacinto Battleground for birth of Republic of Texas, or to Astrodome, the 8th wonder of the world.

Medical: Houston has the top medical center in the world. It might be fun to take a walk around the medical center.

Sports: Houston boasts NFL (Texans, will be playing), MLB (Astros, will be playing), NBA (Rockets, off season), WNBA (Comets, off season), hockey (off season). Tickets to the Texans and Astros are easy to obtain and not too expensive, compared to other large cities.

Good luck and have fun in our wonderful city
