I'm thinking about going to the Detroit Auto Show this coming January, I live in the North Western part of Ohio so the drive won't be too bad but is it worth it or should I just read about it in my car magazines?

Being here as a european guy on a business trip I will probably die of boredom... Well, there are so many museums... ugh! Some restaurants. Some malls. Some bookshops. Some more mediocrity. Nothing on the events calendar but some christmas singing... looks like one in a thousand medium-sized US city clones that ran off the mill... please, give me some reason to believe that I am wrong... HELP!

Everyone outside of Detroit thinks of Detroit as the town where they rioted after the 84 World Series and the whole Devils Night fire thing. But whenever someone makes a reference or a joke - Detroit natives get upset. Yet ever year there's yet another incident of overzealous fans getting too involved and committing crimes because of their "passion"

Think of the fans that circled the Lakers' hotel during the 2004 Finals blowing horns until cops chased them away. Then there was the fans coming onto the court during the brawl. Most recently was the classless booing of Joey Harrington during the Thanksgiving game against the Lions - instigated by the Stadium crew.

I think the only reason there was no riot after the 2004 finals was because of the media storm that brewed after Jimmy Kimmel made that riot joke.

So what gives? Isn't this like Eagles fans complaining if someone says they boo injuries to opposing players?

I'm having my 23rd Birthday next week, the Saturday after Thanksgiving and I was wondering if anyone had any good ideas for a good bar (with decent food) to hang out at... doesn't have to very big or popular, just want somewhere where I can have a table, drinks and just hang out with my friends without a big Saturday night hassle. Somewhere around the Royal Oak, Troy, Warren area would be a huge plus too.
