I'll be visiting Detroit next week for a few days. I've been told by many people there're some nasty neighborhoods that I should stay away. Any idea which neighborhoods they might be?? I'm Canadian, so I'll cross over from Sarnia. Will be staying in the Roseville area, and I just need to go to the Woodward/Mack area (metro Detroit) for a few hours each day. Yes, I'll be driving, any recommendations on safe areas to park? Inputs will be greatly appreciated! THANKS so much!!!

We may be transferred there but we don't have to. I'm just worried about crime, high schools and weather but I'll bet there's alot more to consider.

I'm going to be in Detroit in a few months and I wanted to go into Windsor saturday night. I was planning to take the bus but the last bus back is at like 10PM and I know I'll be staying much later than that so I was wondering if I could catch a cab to get me back into Detroit.

I am planning to visit Detroit, Michigan this summer? What are some must see places to see while in Detroit? Also, what hotels are good to visit in Downtown Detroit and what kind of public transportation does it have?

I am a 27 year old bartender in Detroit at 2 large music venues and I have heard so much crap talked about the city by people who I feel that their negative judgement about Detroit has ultimately given the city a bad rap across the country and the world. Detroit had a secret. The people who live here have alot of pride and hope for their beloved city, there are many undiscoverd group of talent. Our local media dosent cover issues or events concerning art or music, and on a broader scale I think it affects the cities image, and outsiders do not hear or see the culture that prevails here. Its sad the people from the suburbs tell people that Detroit is a dangerous place and if they visit the area to immediatly go outside of the city for amusement and culture. Are they supporting their local communties by talking crap about a city that needs people to understand its not the evil place everyone says it is?
