I'm going to be in Detroit in a few months and I wanted to go into Windsor saturday night. I was planning to take the bus but the last bus back is at like 10PM and I know I'll be staying much later than that so I was wondering if I could catch a cab to get me back into Detroit.

As two others mentioned, a passport is not yet actually required for land crossings (birth certificate plus driver's license or other ID will work fine for now), but take your passport if you have one. It will simplify things enormously and is the standard form of ID for international travel. Birth certificates and other forms of ID vary greatly from state to state, are easier to counterfeit and for both reasons sometimes get extra scrutiny, delay and hassle from officials on both sides of the border.

Yes, just a quick ride over. Bring Passport. Very Important. Say hello to the Red Wings and Joe Lewis for me. LOL

Yes, but contrary to the previous posters you do not yet need a passport to reenter the USA by land. Only by air for now.

Last poster is right, you do not need a passport until 2008 (unless something changes unexpectedly, which it could). If you are not a U.S. citizen, I'm assuming you have one anyway.
BUT, you do need two forms of ID; bring your birth certificate.
