For the past six years, I have been adamantly and loudly saying, YES!!!! It's been the biggest rat motel in Michigan, that costs the taxpayer about $20,000 a year in upkeep and taxes. All other cities have torn down their old stadiums when they built new ones! It serves no practical purpose, and the people of Detroit need to move on (In 1990 they actually gave it a "Group Hug). I've gone to many a games at the corner of Michigan and Trumbell, and have memories that happened way before most of those reading this were ever born! But, its time to move on, and Tiger Stadium needs to come down!

When the Detroit Tigers first left Tiger Stadium to go to Comerica Park, I was for perserving the field. I thought that the stadium could be used for producing baseball movies, having local baseball and football games, and could be a venue where community events could take place. Today, I would like to see the stadium demolished because it is just standing there and is not being used and has been vandalized in the past. A historical marker for Tiger Stadium has even been stolen from the stadium and the main reason why the Stadium will never be developed into anything profitable is because it would mean competition with Comerica Park.

I do however, believe that the baseball field should be preserved for future generations to play baseball where great baseball and football legends of the past once played baseball and football. Despite the fact there are plans for new development after the razing of Tiger Stadium, I do not see those plans actually happening since most plans that are created in Detroit usually never get built or it takes a very long time to get completed.

"Yes" if they are going to let it fall to pieces which is what it is doing. The land can be used for other things such as apartments and retail...NO if the fix it up and find some kind of use for it like a historical marker or museum but I highly doubt that will happen. Its falling apart. I love tiger stadium but I care about detroit more and that is what is most important what is right for detroit. A good friend of mine live about 3/4 of a mile from tiger stadium and she says it needs to go cause that is the addicts choice of where to go cause it provides them shelter from weather..

Yes. I'm a big fan of the Tigers and attended the 1968 game when they won the pennant in that old stadium. But it's old... it was never very comfortable... if you had to sit behind the pole you coudn't see a thing. Everything and everyone comes to an end... the new stadium is awesome and it's time to tear down the old.

P.S. Hail to the victor valient - Bo Schemblecher. Go Blue!

No - it's historic. It'd be nice to see someone with tons of dough (like a Bill Gates or Paul Allen-type guy who could do it for sentimental reasons and not have to worry about making or losing money on it) sink a bunch of money into it and use it for fantasy camps or something. - - - - Of course, back in the real world...if that was going to happen, it would have happened by now. If it's becoming a blight on the community, then I guess there is nothing else that can be done.

I hate to say this, but yes it should come down. I can look out my window at work and see the structure decaying. I have not been inside the stadium since it closed but I have read numerous reports that it is filled with rats.

This structure and scores of others in Detroit need to come down, but it costs too much to do that.

Its well past due.
Every few months you hear about plans for renewal
The latest is that they are going to turn the bleacher area into condos and leave the infield as a community park.
That area just needs to get leveled, along with that old train station...but that crook that owns the ambassador bridge owns the train station, and wont give it up, because he might need it someday.l

They should knock it down and then build an arena to house our
"Detroit" Pistons that play in Auburn Hills.
